Have to agree with all this......many QPR fans were digging Harry out for not showing any emotion on the bench, yet dig out Timmy for his passion. There must be a middle ground somewhere.
Nothing wrong with having passion. Being a one man pantomine on the touchline throwing your gilet about while sounding like an East End fishmonger is just annoying after a while, as is his incredibly high opinion of himself based on **** all.
You can call it harsh on fans throwing a few plastic bottles around but I think of it that nobody will ever get served a bottle of pop without having the lid removed at a match ever again because grown men can't be trusted not to throw them - how insanely pathetic is that?
Well that's alright then. All is forgiven. I'll remind you of that next time Chelsea lose a game or fail to qualify for the knock out stages of the Champions League and the scorer runs over to celebrate in front of The Shed TBF though, the only player to blame was Fabregas. He ran like a demented moron over to the QPR fans. Seeing as he was on the other side of the pitch in the second half not quite sure why he was so upset in the first place.
Could you imagine Fabregas doing similar playing for Barca in an El Clasico derby in the Bernebeau? No, neither could I. Could you imagine an old firm player doing that in the home ground of their rivals in the heat of a Glasgow derby? The SFA would charge them with incitement to hatred. The Chelsea players must share some of the responsibility for what happened.
There is no doubt that an indefinite ban is too much. You get less for murder!! Sums up the drama queen nature of modern football fans to suggest a life time ban for something so minor. Only the lighter and the coins were of any relevance. Plastic bottles with no lid and the odd programme. What's the worst that could happen? Realistically... Not condoning the actions but a sloppy goal against our rivals, last minutes and that could effectively relegate us means that people did something silly and most probably regretted their heat of the moment action. To chuck out an indefinite ban is bonkers. Does the punishment really fit the crime. I remember Dennis Wise about 15 years ago taking a corner at that same end while playing for Millwall. He bent down picked up all the coins thrown at him laughed and handed it to a boy in front row. Can't understand how you could have situation where on bloke stabs someone to death and in 25 years time he could start a new job and meet a bloke who supports QPR and say you want to go to the game this weekend and that bloke has to say no sorry 25 years ago I threw a plastic bottle on the pitch!!!! Any logic in that? I can't see it
The bottom line is you can't throw things at players, it's irrelevant what is thrown. Plastic bottle, lighter, concrete block it doesn't matter, you shouldn't do it. We all get frustrated with events on the pitch but the vast majority are able to contain themselves and utter a few obscenities and nothing more. You can't then decide that a plastic bottle is OK to throw but a lighter or coin isn't. If you are caught throwing anything then you should be banned, full stop. We don't want these people at LR nor does any other club.
The Chelsea players were shaking like a ****ting dog when they had to go to take a throw-in or a corner from that area of the ground. That's why they made a pre-meditated celebration when they scored. They knew what that they were doing and knew what to expect.
Oh come on everyone! Loftus Road has always had the reputation for being an intimidating ground to play at. This is due to the proximity of the fans to the pitch and the noise generated for what is essentially a closed stadium that generates a helluva noise; now that should be enough OK. You cannot condone in any way whatsoever people throwing objects at players. It is wrong plain and simple. The club is right to take a tough stance on this. Let's not all go back to the 70's eh?
But then us youngsters could see Bowles, Francis etc. rather than growing up on Steve Morrow and Paul Bruce.
You obviously didn't see Ivan leaning back in the crowd to take a throw in then. He literally couldn't give 2 ****s.
