Absolutely he was the victim. Another working class victim of the bourgeois who run the Premier League. Anyone can see that Joey was purely acting in self defence . As a club we should have challenged the whole thing and taken it to the Court of Human RIghts. It was and remains a miscarriage of justice. We should all just be grateful that it has made Joey stronger.
Did anyone else notice Steve Black on the pitch during the warm up? From PU, he was standing to the left of the practice goal. I'm guessing he will have a busy couple of weeks!
This is a belated April Fool's joke right? Let's not forget his own statements at the time. Didn't defend what he did. Instead he spoke eloquently of the team mates who encouraged him to take at least one of them with him. Deserves the accolades for his performance against Chelsea but let's not go overboard shall we.
When am I not proud of being an R??? When we went down last time the away match at Reading, I was not proud, I was embarrassed When we do not try...the few "bonus"away matches at the start of the season ...away at Spurs, away at United. And yes I am obviously a glory hunter....I have been hanging around here for near on 50 years, just waiting to jump ship to a more successful team
Whatever Joey said he was probably misquoted by the press who love a pantomime villain. If the mods had any integrity whatsoever they would be running a 'Justice for Joey' thread and not take it down until that red card is rescinded and Joey is provided with a formal apology.
Oh well. I did try. He's not the Liverpool One you know. He is a footballer who can play well from time to time but with a notoriously short fuse. TBF he is probably not deserving of all the reds he has received as he is easy to wind up and his rep goes before him. However many were fully deserved, especially the one at the Etihad. Had Bolton knicked another goal that day we would certainly have gone down that season as a result of his stupidity. We can see it and so can he. Why don't you spare the mods the bother (and the insults) and start the bandwagon rolling yourself?
I think (and deeply, sincerely hope) that Royal Oak's tongue is buried firmly within his cheek. If that works on an internet message forum board thingy. Otherwise I fear a head injury may have been incurred.
No head injury there, no need to stop play. Great to hear an alternate viewpoint from all the long term head damage sufferers who still can't admit Joey had a decent game, due to of a moment's madness 3 years ago.
Beg your pardon? Not sure what you're insinuating here.........I'm still searching for the tongue in cheek smiley thingy, did you lose it when posting ROR?
ITS ALL REDKNAPPS FAULT........................he f*****d us over by leaving his exit too long............
Thanks for the support Oslo; at least someone out there is prepared to consider an alternative view. I had better pipe down though before others silence me..... as they say 'The tyranny of the majority and all that'. Now I know how Joey felt.
I have nothing against your respect for Barton but your comments about 'tyranny of the majority' the 'working class victim suffering at the hands of the bourgeois FA', taking his case to the Court of Human Rights, 'miscarriage of Justice' and suggesting that the mods lack integrity are what have got people's backs up. Don't pipe down. Just apologise for your gross exaggerations and confirm that you got carried away with your own hyperbolae.
I am happy to admit Joey was phenomenal yesterday. Has been increasingly good all season...of his cards about half were undeserved...the other half would be what you want/expect from a combative midfielder. Yesterday when it really mattered not to get a card...he didn't and still lead from the front. Do I want him here next year...definitely yes. But 3 years ago he was a complete pillock (one who was provoked) but still a pillock...all the same. I did not want him back, but he came back, and proved me wrong... But I am not going to run a pointless thread asking for his red card be rescinded...but Joey has proved me wrong. Well done Captain Joey
It really is too bad that we have to wait almost another 2 weeks for our next match, home to West Ham, where 3 pts are definitely required.
