Not playing JOS away at Stoke would be utterly ludicrous in my opinion

Surely stoppers need to be as quick as strikers ? That's who they have to stop! OK they don't have to be sprinters but they have to have similar reaction times over 5 - 10 yards and that's exactly what we don't have

Stoppers are there not to be passed, if they are passed then the covering CB helps out and covers. Stoppers tend to be the biggest, least mobile players on the pitch. Adams, Stam, Vidic, all stoppers all would be done on pace by many many a striker but their reading of the game helped make up for it and they had good coverers to . Covering CBs are interceptors like Thiago Silva, Carvalho or Ferdinand who were much more nimble, agile and confident on the ball as covers tend to be the ball players. As Covering CB's get old they're forced to become stoppers as their pace deteriorates. Which is why Wes was a ball playing CB for years but now he's old and knackered we're stuck with two Stoppers playing together with no pace between them. You think Stams reaction times over 5 yards would be anywhere near close to say Defoe? Let's go slower, Super Kev? Even slower Lambert. Over 5 yards they'd knack a Stam, big lads take a long time to reach top speed don't they? That's why the have someone quicker to cover them usually.

Vidic was good slow, those who read the ball are miles ahead of those who chase the ball.

What exactly did he do wrong on goal number four? He jumped for the ball and, whilst in mid-air, was pushed in the back by the forward who ran on to score - people say "Strength" - how exactly can anyone be strong in mid air? If you are off the ground and about to head a comfortable ball which is dropping to you and you are pushed underneath the ball you cannot use "strength" as you have nothing to use to make yourself strong. 1 & 3 were definitely all him though!!

IMO he has been good more than bad this season - guess the whole thing is you're only as good as your last game - I see a bigger picture...

That said - I'd still want him to be a "bit part" next season rather than a permanent fixture

Constructive - it's just my opinion disco and I stick with it - he has, IMO, been good more than he's been bad this season - Wes Brown has looked far worse this campaign then last IMO (again) but I also maintain that he should be replaced in the summer and be a bench warmer next season.

He let the ball bounce outside the box, was then done which lead to the chaos of the 4th goal.

Both JOS and Wes should have been replaced at the start of the '13-'14 season, never mind next ****ing season, or at least new CBs drafted in to be their understudies and replacement.

That's the problem. They can't really help being old and knackered. It is too glaringly obvious in this league.

I saw it differently mate - he was comfortably about to head the ball when pushed blatantly from behind - it made no difference to the outcome but it was a definite foul - Should've attacked the ball but he did that on the others and got ****ed over by judgement - possibly the wind played a part (not excusing him as he was ****e!) never sure as we're in the stands and not on the pitch!

How many times have you seen it mate? There was no push what so ever, the palace player had his upper arm tight in and went in with his shoulder and took him clean out side by side. JoS let the ball bounce then was out muscled by a player half his size. There was no foul for me. Just two JoS mistakes which led to the goal. from 13 seconds onward

Still think it was a foul fella? Surely not it's a contact sport.

You disagree with people and make out it's because you see the bigger picture and we don't.

    That's utter crap.

We all see the same thing and you forgive his howlers, we don't. It doesn't mean you're any more enlightened than us. It means you have lower expectations/standards.

Hear, hear mate. I wouldn't go against seeing them in a development role with some youngsters coming into the club. If that doesn't work out then they can always pour the beers for the fellas during the week <laugh>
