He had a great game on Tues night... I was behind his goal in the 2nd half and he made some superb saves.
His distribution in a 'little suspect' but overall a really good goalkeeper and one you should try to keep hold of :emoticon-0148-yes:

Sky did some goalie stats recently to determine who was the Premier Leagues best and RG is up there with De Gea, Hart, Coutois and Forster.

He is a little leaden footed and his distribution can be sketchy but his positional sense and reactions are right up there and as stated earlier he is a great professional which is exactly what the club needs.

He definitely deserves to be back in the England squad ahead of Ben Foster

    Interesting stat RE Greeno:

    • Rob Green has made five errors leading to opposition goals this season, the most by a top-flight player.

That's another one to the list.

I feel so angry at him today. After all that hard work from the team. Its unforgivable at this level :frown:

Green's kicking has been awful all season and that error today was shocking!! Gutted for all the outfield players who worked so hard.

I am angry and gutted too but I am still glad we sang his name at the end. The last thing we need is a keeper shot of confidence for the last five games.

He stayed out long after the team went in...not sure he could face them.
He acknowledged the fans singing his name
    Sad but inevitable

Allowing for the fact that it would appear I have Rob Green tinted glasses, how many goals have we conceded because of errors by defenders?

Again, with the way our defense has often been Rob has done a top job for us this season.

    Thank you Mr Green!

Yeah, it was Green's ****-up that led to the goal today, but you could also point to Hill's foul that led to Benteke's equaliser on Tuesday, or Caulker's disastrous indecision that gifted Liverpool their winner, or Austin's missed penalty that gave Hull their victory. That's five point right there. I'm sure there are other incidents we could point to. The main point is that our players, at least as a team, aren't good enough in this decision, I'm afraid.

Lot of negativity here and on Twitter... but from my perspective Green haas been at the centre of much that is good this season - yet after a poor clearance... are we saying that the Fabregas picked up the ball and simply stroked it into the net without any other play occurring?

**** happens... Green is the not the reason we lost this match. Shouldn't Matty have smashed it home and put us one up? Could BZ not have made the extra efforts to reach Phillips' super cross earlier in the game? Wasn't Clint's curler a bit too low... surely he could have aimed a bit higher - passed it to the right - teleported to the other side of the goal where Courtois might not have made a decent stop?

It's a team game and the team did us proud against one of the best teams in Europe - we were undone by tiredness, and a succession of mistakes that may have began with RG, but was ultimately a shared ****up. That's the nature of the game. Frankly the fans were bloody brilliant... beasted the #CaptainRacistBellend from start to finish and proved that whatever league we are in we have no need to turn on our own.

Name me one player that has not ****ed up... but trarely does one ****up equate to a direct goal... and it didn't in this case...

Utterly eviscerated that we lost - but totally unimpressed by the desire to blame any individuals for what was (given the season we have had) a remarkably composed, and very, very nearly faultless performance.

Every player has ****ed up but I'm afraid Green lacks one of the most basic attributes of a top class keeper, being able the clear the ball with his feet quickly, powerfully and accurately, either when he has time or when he is under pressure. I know it was windy today but he continually cocked it up. Even on the one occassion he threw it he cocked that up too. As we are a long ball team (of neccesity rather than choice I hope) and a lot of our play stems from the keeper, this is a pretty major flaw.

He'll be fine at Chelsea because there he just has to roll the ball out to one of the back four.

Ok he's to blame but also defence for switching off when hazard had it & left fabregas free, so drained after that match.

Excellent post. I'm also very bored by the need to blame a player Seagull. Every game we make far too many mistakes as a team, usually every player contributes a few. Green screwed up today but so did the ones getting the most praise. Just a lottery if one player's cokk up leads to the goal or not.

Sorry, but that's football.. on another day he would have saved a blinder but they would have scored three - overall (and here is the point) he has been good for us - do the research... look back over the posts and the broad assessment from this very forum is positive.

**** happens... the measure of the individual is how they respond... Green has been there and back - be interested to see any stats on a goalkeeper (in an equivalent side) who has been more successful?

This is a keeper in a bottom three side who has been called up to the England squad - but you know better?

Absolutely spot on. There is a lot to like and admire about Green. Naturally we are all disappointed but no need to make a scapegoat out of Green. Achieves nothing. We need these guys to be 100% motivated for the run in.

Spot on. He is under no pressure when the ball is in his hands. The opponents cannot come near him, he is allowed 6 seconds (and some!) and all he has to do is get it in the other half. It was a huge error.

Hang on a second everyone, yes we know that the team over the season has made many mistakes, however rob greens today was criminal. Kicking a ball from his hands and slicing it backwards, are you all having a laugh. The team deserved at least a point if not all 3, and for a man (rob green) who had nothing to do all day to make that error is appalling. I am not a fan of this goalkeeper and never have been, before the season started someone asked me if we had got rid of Jonah, i was a little naive in asking who he was referring to and he said Rob Green, i started laughing however he did point out to me that he has one of the worst records for relegating teams. I have now been watching him for a few seasons and he does not command his area, talk to his defence and will not come for the ball. Alex McCarthy is a much better keeper and the team will benefit when we get this guy between the sticks , he is the way forward not Rob Green.

Sorry guys you cannot defend what happened today, like i said good goalkeepers command their area and will dig out defenders when needed, Rob Green does not do either for me, and he is notorious for big mistakes at crucial times, his career is littered with these calamities and we suffered for one of them today.
