"Southampton v Bournemouth
League One
Saturday 2nd October 2010, 3pm
By Alexander Jones (Bournemouth fan)

1. Why you were looking forward to going to the ground (or not as the case may be):

I was looking forward to the short trip to St Mary’s for several reasons. Firstly, it was the first league meeting between the two sides for 50 years. It is largely unknown outside the area that is a fierce rivalry between the two clubs, so it was a mouth watering prospect. Also, St Mary’s is a very modern ground which I was yet to visit, making it an extremely excitable game to go and watch. The fact that Bournemouth were on a great run and Saints were off to an unpredictable start to the season, made this an interesting spectacle."

Fierce rivalry, hmm bless our little sister. for a full read of the above snippet from ground guides.

That area was Boscombe

Hopefully they won't try and make a rivalry off the field. You can go off clubs

They already did that last time in League 1, didn't they try n break a door open at St Marys?

So who thinks they'll do it? 2 from 4 now n here are the fixtures:

Bournemouth:
Reading (A)
Sheffield Wednesday (H)
Bolton (H)
Charlton (A)

Norwich:
Leeds (A)
Middlesbrough (H)
Rotherham (A)
Fulham (H)

Watford:
Forest (A)
Birmingham (H)
Brighton (A)
Sheffield Wednesday (H)

Middlesbrough:
Wolves (H)
Norwich (A)
Fulham (A)
Brighton (H)

Looking at those and I'm almost certain that they will manage it, they remind me alot of us during our Championship season. As for who joins them, the winner (if there is one) of the Norwich Boro game could be in a great position. If a draw then Watfords run in looks very kind.

Either way gonna be a great watch as it unfolds and I think most will join me in saying up the Cherries! (Except Beefy!)

Yes, I had a peek at the remaining fixtures of the various teams and AFCB's run-in really does look as if it is possible. One can only hope the situation doesn't get to them. I hope they don't realise that making history is staring them in their faces, because that can freeze players. But they also look better than that so I really think they'll do it, possibly as Champions as well.

Was expecting them to choke, but now really think they will get promoted.
Nice for them to be able to sing Que sera ,sera, we're going to St Marys, again.
And hopefully we will dick them like we did in their 3 "cup finals " in League 1. :)

"Unknown to almost everyone outside my own head, there is fierce rivalry between the two hemispheres of my brain."

Good luck to AFC Bournemouth though. Whoever they are.

I really hope they do get promoted.....6 points in the bag.
It's a shame their ground, even after expansion, is so small though. Bournemouth is closer to me than Southampton but I'd have no chance of getting tickets unless a friendly season ticket holder were to get me one!

I would have thought you would have better odds of winning the lottery :emoticon-0110-tongu

I could probably sort that Chilco; remember this next season, if they go up.

its almost would feel a bit like we were cheating on pompey having new local rivals - but they must be at least 10 years away from even getting back to the championship
