Just realised who you're talking about, Richie Benaud. Legend of a commentator in my lifetime. Sorry to hear he has passed away. RIP.
The voice of cricket, and backdrop to many of my summers in the 70s and 80s. The word is bandied about too often, but not in this case - a genuine legend.
Very sad to hear of the passing of one of the Greatest commentators of all time , whichever sport you can think of. So enjoyed hearing his commentaries as a kid . True Gent , met him once at an Ashes Test during a rain break at Edgebaston , top guy RIP
Line during Botham's 1981 ashes 149 n.o....."and he's hit that.....straight into the confectionery stall and out again" a true commentating legend!!
Will be missed. Don't think I'd have been as well educated in cricket had I not listened to him as intently as I did.
Sad news possibly the best commentator I I've heard he was never biased and always told it exactly how is was!
The man was a broadcasting genius and master of the understatement. Gave me many years of listening pleasure. RIP Richie, you've earned it
Another from my childhood and early adult hood disappears. A brilliant commentator. I think of that iconic test match music whenever I think about him. RIP.
