Sunderland v Crystal Palace, Saturday 3pm Away win. This game will play straight into Palace’s hands. The pressure is on Sunderland. The fans will turn up and think ‘oh, we’ll beat Palace and we’ll be safe’. It will be a completely different atmosphere to the Newcastle game. If they don’t score early on the fans will get frustrated. Palace will be miles too quick for them on the break with Wilfried Zaha and Yannick Bolasie. Plus, Glenn Murray is a very good finisher. Sorry like, but I don't know anyone thinking this is a banker. Merson is a clutz of the highest order
He's right about their pace. We need to be set up right to smother their pace for 90 minutes. It's gonna be a tough game.
What a ****er, most of us speak more sense than that deluded ****, think we know a tough game when we see one. Ignorant ****.
I had concerns about their pace when we played them down there especially with Reveille playing. He kept a very fast winger in his pocket from the off with his positioning and anticipation. Admittedly Palace are on a high at the minute but the teams are well matched in ability and style so if it is close it could go our way if we take our chances.
How would you know if he's right though? You're just a Sunderland fan who thinks we'll turn up and win, you don't have the mental capacity to assess an opponent's strengths, you're just a Sunderland fan remember. Hope the **** falls off the wagon, gets back on the coke and his whole world collapses around him. The Twat.
He is right, this is much more suited to Palace than us. Would love us to win, but would be very surprised, I predict an underwhelming performance and a defeat. Unless we have genuinely turned a corner. Time will tell
Not a fan then I've just seen on Sky that Palace are currently 5th in the form league for games in 2015 with 23 out of 30 points. This is a tough game coming up without doubt! A draw against a team in this form wouldn't be a disaster. It'll get us to 30 points, about 4/5 from safety. Still squeaky bum time but edging closer to safety.
Don't know the exact stats but their away results under Pardew have been fantastic. Tough game, draw is a good result for us.
Just checked: won 6, lost 1 away under Pardew. Loss was 1-0 at Southampton but also won there in the cup, as well as wins at Dover, Leicester, Everton, Stoke and West Ham. Jesus.
Ha! Our home results under our new manager are better than theirs away under Pards. 100% win rate. All about perspective.
We all know it's a very tough game. I wonder what gave dickhead the idea that we think we just have to turn up. It's winnable no doubt but I'd be well happy with a draw.
I don`t understand the fuss about Merson. Whether or not I agree with him is irrelevant. Whether or not I think he`s a tit is irrelevant. He`s paid to say something so he does. As far as the match goes I reckon this a much sterner test for DA and the players. A big step up from the mags and imo we`ll learn much more from it. Love a win but content with a draw.
The only thing I'm certain of as a Sunderland fan this weekend is that when Merson is on Sky, several times he will fail to pronounce well known players' names and everyone will laugh 'with' him about what an ignorant cretin he is. I think we'll get a win as it happens, I think the crowd will be hugely influential and we'll be well organised all over the pitch. Not to write off Palace as a threat obviously, it pains me a little to say it but Pardew has turned them in to a very solid side, I just think we're due another win and we'll get it this weekend.
