if we win all the remaining games i think we can get 4th but we would have to rely on others above us to lose 3 or 4 games to be in with a chance...i still have hope however little it is... it aint over till it's over i say.

  3. No chance we'll get top four now but after all the bragging, it would be very funny if we somehow finished above Man Utd <laugh>

We will finish strongly and win 5 or 6 of our remaining league games. But I don't think it'll be enough because it would require a massive **** up by one of the teams ahead of us, and none of them really look like losing 3 or 4 games out of the last 7.

They've still got City (h), Chelsea (a), Everton (a), Palace (a) & Arsenal (h) so it wouldn't be terribly unlikely, but I still can't see it unfortunately, as funny as it would be.

Not totally unfeasible that Man.u get beat by Citeh and Chelsea over the next two games.

We win ours and its back to two points and game on <badger>

The Chavs have already started a we have already won thread, it would be hilarious to listen to Moaninho if Chelsea didn't win the league. I have images of guys in white coats dragging a struggling shouting man screaming "#campaign" into a padded ambulance.

He's gone from not celebrating winning the CL to having an emotional breakdown on winning the league cup.

I'll be honest lads suarez bit a player to engineer a move last time we looked like not getting to 4th and we just drifted. I hope rodgers can instill a bit of effort.

I for one think LFc with respect to villa and Blackburn simply have to get to cup final now, it is IMO sackable if we don't.

If we have no minimum levels that get a guy sacked why bother striving for the top cos we will never get there.

I think the mancs Derby is going to be key (apart from our Newcastle match at home which we SHOULD really win easily) . Should United win it, they have almost sewn up the CL place IMO. It would be damn difficult to make up 8 points with 6 matches left. Then it will be City in our sights.

If we win all our matches which is not that impossible (but unlikely with the form we are in) we would need City to only drop another 4 points for us to overtake them.

Normally I would like a draw between our challengers. But I think in this case, I would prefer one to have zero point.

    Viewed in another way:

LFC winning all their remaining matches: 75 points. More realistic target would be 73 (draw at Chelsea).

For United to beat that target they need only 11 points, giving them 73 points with a superior GD.
so that if they have 4 W out of their last 7 matches it is game over for us. They can also afford to have

    2 L 2D (3W)
    1 L 3D (3W)
    0L 5D (2W)

So we need them to **** up in >50% of their remaining matches.

  13. Who we prefer to be chasing, Man Utd or Man City...?

    upload_2015-4-8_14-12-8.png

Man Utd clearly having the harder fixtures but they are the form team.

We won't avoid defeat to Chelsea so the realistic target is 72pts

That's almost a philosophical point :) . Aren't "form" and "the fixtures difficulty" linked? i.e the more out of form you are the harder the fixtures list would become. United had on paper 3 harder fixtures recently but because of their good form won all 3. City had an easier fixtures on paper but only won one out of 3.

I suspect unless City massively improve their form, that fixtures list will prove harder and will drop more points than United.

If the target is 72 then United only need to win 3 and draw one.

I think we have to make it as close as possible to keep some sort of positivity. Potential signings will be watching. We have to look on the cusp, not also rans.

For it being 7 points it is strangely possible on paper. Especially with City's away form - if Yaya and Aguero stay at their current level we might just do it. But we're very much the outsiders.

  16. Fair point about form and fixtures <ok>

Ignoring the Manchester derby for now, I can see Man City picking up a minimum of twelve points with them playing West Ham, Villa, QPR and Saints at home. that already puts them beyond our (72pts) reach with three other games to play. Man Utd will beat Everton (who always bend over for them), WBA and Hull putting them on 71pts with four more games to go. Its simply not going to happen.

Man City play West Ham, Villa, Spurs. 2 draws and a loss please.

We play West Brom, Hull, QPR. If we get 7-9 points we are already ahead of Man City going into the Chelsea game.

Why do you lot post stuff like this before thinking about it, or even possibly checking the #fackhts?

We did the double over them last season, and don't you remember the 4-4 that cost them the title????
