BBC have a wonderful habit of slipping these claims in in a misleading kind of way. Bet you probably got the old "Aston Villa have never been relegated from the current top flight", with the small print failing to mention that 'current' means since it was renamed as the PL. Or Arsenal have never been relegated, with the subtext being that when they were relegated they were known as Woolwich Arsenal. For a public service broadcaster, they certainly do their best to mislead the public.
Everton have spent the most time in the top division than any other club and Arsenal have the longest length of time in the top division.
No, I'm certain they've never been relegated since the PL was founded. Arsenal, Villa, Everton, Liverpool, Utd, Chelsea and Spurs are the only seven club to have stayed in the PL since it started IIRC.
Surely that's the same thing? Or do you mean Arsenal have the longest continuous length of time in the top division? 100 years without being relegated is a pretty big thing tbh. I'm surprised you lot didn't bang on about it more given the never ending fuss over the season of 12 draws...
One of the things I took issue with the media is when Wimbledon played Liverpool this season. They made a big thing about it being a rerun of the 1988 FA Cup final. They also mentioned the "crazy gang" and interviewed various of the protagonists from that final. The team Liverpool played are called AFC Wimbledon and have never won the FA Cup in fact they were not even in existence in 1988
Hello baldy Edmund. How's the refuse collecting going. Are you still selling your arse around Chatham docks ?
