Unless they were just sweating off the heat?

Fletcher was poor today apart from the assist he did very little, so frustrating he had good chances to kill the game off, but wasted them, lets hope he comes up with the goods sooner rather than later as we have few options but to stick with him.

    That`ll be it.

He earned his keep today, no mistake. Congers pulled off a master stroke getting that lad in. Makes me wonder how much better we`d have been if he`d been allowed to bring his other targets that Gus (allegedly) put the block on.

Without Defoe we had no threat up front as both Fletcher and Wickham had ineffective games by comparison. I just wish Wickham would choose the easy pass rather than try to provide the spectacular killer ball.

I agree with what you say, but Whicks earns his place with work rate that puts Fletch to shame, both lose the ball so often in situations that initially look promising but usually end up with us defending in desperation, I honestly think we should be seeing better from both of them. Just whats gone wrong with Fletch is the seasons biggest mystery.

Fletch was the only weak link today. Thought Catts was off colour in parts though did nothing wrong. An awesome team display and victory well deserved. One more display like this and we stay up. Awesome feeling at the end when we won. LOVED IT

Really. Thought he was solid but not brilliant. The midfield struggled and we looked solid defensively. I haven't seen the possession stars but it has to be at lest 60/40 and we never looked like scoring again.

I watched it on NBC over here in the states, I thought the coverage was great, but that might just have been because I was so glad it was on and got up early to watch the game.

For me Wickham had a good game, he held the ball up well and was a threat. He also worked extremely hard. He will start to score more goals and make the right decisions, remember he is still very much a young player developing.

Fletcher had a few good moments but he was ineffective in front of goal which is where we need him to be putting chances away.

I was undecided at the match but it's easily Defoe after watching the Sky replay.

Not only does he score the best derby goal I've ever seen, he worked his socks off and continually took the ball off Colback.

The Newcastle supporters may wish to believe that Colback is a 'steal' but he often hides in games like this.

We were at the front of the East Stand, in the 2nd half, and you could see his legs were shaking when he was collecting the ball for thrown ins <laugh>
