Four four two have released their annual list with JBG being our sole entry at 40. A magazine that has lost its way in the last 10 years, they tipped us for relegation when we won league one, then for promotion last season. Basically, their "experts" aren't very good. But - how do you guys see it? Players like Hendo, vetokele etc lucky to miss out?
I would be very interested to see the full list. I noticed Matt Ritchie took the top spot. Very good player but don't think he is the best player in the league. 442 is a shocking magazine though these days, it used to be a good read aswell, shame.
I am surprised to see only one in the top fifty, there are not many better right backs than Solly. If Watt had started the season the way he is playing at the moment he would have walked it.
http://www.90min.com/posts/2017319-...ops-fourfourtwo-s-football-league-top-50-poll You'll find the full list here, Don. Mcgurk of Burton, who we had on trial a few seasons back makes the list - when Kermo misses out. Reuben Reid who has failed at this level - has made the cut. The notoriously inconsistent Sean Scannel - you guessed it, makes it. If it was ''Four four two's best player of the year'' there would be more of a case. But it's the claim of them being the best in the football league which discredits the article.
I seem to recall Zheng Zhi was in the top 5 in our first Championship season. As everyone says the magazine has really gone downhill; I still buy the first of the season with the guide (although since 2011 I take it with a pinch of salt!) It would be interesting to do a Championship XI of non CAFC players from a fans perspective. I bet it would include a lot of players not on the list; for example mine would include Kermorgant, Jay Tabb, Inigo Calderon and Rohan Ince.
I watched the Ipswich v Bournemouth game on TV, and was really impressed with a few of their players. Wilson is a good player who looks as if he could play at a higher level, but my stand out was Harry Arter, who s outstanding. Very fluid and mobile, with a great engine. Why did we let him go ? A couple of others who have impressed me this season - Tomlin at Middlesborough, and Martin at Derby.
I was furious when we let After go. For years he and Josh Wright were highly sought after from bigger clubs, and we let Arter leave like it was nothing. He had some injuries, in particular his achilles, and believe he was released in our relegation to league one.
