Not sure about either of these Richard Lee a goalkeeper from Brentford who is retiring at the end of the season due to injury issues, he surely won't be number 1 ahead if Betts and although an upgrade on Kiraly Ibdont see the point of replacing our back up Keeper fir the last 7 games

Guthrie from Reading a centre midfielder who although isn't dreadful isn't really an upgrade on Fofana, Parker, Tunniclffe and LVC would have preferred a winger personally

Pointless signings in my opinion. In can't see any of them adding anything to the squad. Guthrie is (or at least was) a decent player but with Emerson coming back, this is only likely to limit his first team action. We'll possibly be better off in the event of an injury crisis but both are underwhelming signings.

I think Emerson has gone away with the USA under 20's, still can't see the reasoning in these two signings although I'm hopeful Husband will prove to be a major asset

Agree with everyone - Fotheringham and Fazlic come to mind. Whole thing smacks of panic in the last hour of the 'Loan Transfer' window.

Lee certainly can't play a week on Friday against Brentford. Guthrie I suppose bring some experience (surprised he's only 27) and gives cover if Parker is going to miss many more games.

Emerson will be back after the international break, he's only going as far as Plymouth.

Agree with the above, 3/4 weeks ago I could have understood this, but the timing is strange. Best just to laugh as the circus rolls on. At this point it would take a disaster for us to go down - trying to bed three new players does sound like good ingredients for this.

Can only hope for a return to some semblance of the good old days, ie a manager with a clue and a starting 11 you can recite and rely on.

I like the Guthrie signing. It's a try before you buy loan for a type of experienced player I'd like us to bring in on a reasonable deal (like Turner).

Lee I don't understand at all. Is Kiraly really so bad we'd need to bring in a keeper who plans to retire due to injury in the summer? Very odd signing.

Guthrie could be a good signing, particularly if Kit continues to play a formation that requires several central midfielders. I thought Lee was a good signing - decent, experienced back up keeper - until I heard that he plans to retire at the end of the season. That makes it a very curious one, with the only explanation I can see being that Kit has absolutely no confidence whatsoever in Kiraly if anything happens to Bettinelli. If that is the reason, then I think the signings are okay - no better, no worse, but okay.

Having thought about it, I think the Guthrie signing could be decent. His Reading contract is up in the summer so the loan move is pretty much an extended trial. He'll be playing for a contract. He obviously has talent but needs to find form again but it could turn out to be decent business if he does impress and we get him for free in the summer.

Extended trial or is Parker done for the season? Just a thought not fact.

    Good point.

Extended trial? Why not. First impressions are positive!

Agreed. He was a wee bit responsible for their first goal (not closing the Brentford player down after Kaca’s hopeless defending down in our right hand corner) and obviously tired as the game went on. But as I said in the ‘Team v Brentford’ thread, at least he was one of the few who looked like he had an inkling.

The biggest issue is going to be how to get the best out of him. If Kit persists in playing Tunnicliffe - which seems, incredibly, likely - then Guthrie should be played ahead of said Tunnicliffe; not the other way round.
