    What we have:

Demba Ba-Great player and will score alot of goals next season, lets hope he stays relatively injury free.

Shola Ameobi- Only needed for 2 games a season, one of which happens to come up second.

    Peter Lovenkrands-Frustrating player.

Leon Best-Good squad player shouldn't be sold unless its a swap for a better striker.

Nile Ranger-I have a soft spot for the lad and hope he stays and really fills his potential or he goes out on loan and scores loads in the championship.

    Potential Targets:

Youssef El-Arabi-Great player and impressed Graham Carr, so he must be up to the standard. Will be available for around 10M.

Seydou Doumbia-Great scoring record and no doubt would be a great signing but i fear CSKA would want around 18M for him.

Dan Sturridge-Would be perfect number 9 and would score 20 goals a season, 20M though is not going to happen, maybe a loan though

Jermain Defoe- Wouldn't mind this as he can score goals at this level and has played at the highest level. Would be available for around 8M.

Khouma Babacour- Never going to happen but would be perfect signing for me and would have massive resale value so I say put up 15M.

Shane Long-He will end up coming in my opinion as he is an easy option, better than we have except Ba. 5M.

What do you think? Who should be the next number 9?

you cant just pick random players out of knowhere and say they are targets, babacour is such a FM signing and defoe and sturridge wont come here, also the other two ive nether heard of but ive never seen them linked with us.

Ba - Good player and should score goals. Not proven in a long run in this league though.
Shola - I really would love him to have just one brilliant season, can't see it though :(
Loven - He's lost his pace, so as much as he makes good runs they aren't usually worthwhile.
Best - Decent player but not great. Still needs to prove himself.
Ranger - Potential is there but he is rubbish.

I can only really judge a few of them targets.

Sturridge - Not a bad player but only had one good half season in professional football. We should know better than anyone not to chuck money at unproven players.
Defoe - Not very good anymore.
Long - Would like to sign him at a good price, think he can cut it in this league.

In-the-knows have mentioned El-Arabi this morning. A quick youtube search shows that he is very skillful and looks to have lots of ability, whilst Wikipedia shows him to have a good goalscoring record. Sounds decent, only downside is he is another African (Morrocco international) and we will already be losing Ba upfront to the ACON.

Thats why i reviewed him but I don't see it happening as the 'ITK's suggested him as a target and they are never right

Apparently Gervinho has withdrawn talks with Arsenal as he has failed to agree personal terms. He will now favour a move to Newcastle United in a deal reportedly to be worth around 14 million pounds.

P.S this is my rumour, take it or leave it but it will be just as accurate as Cwarr07.

    What's taking them so long anyway? Arsene can't close a deal...or close out a 4-0 lead...:smiley-finger007:

Ba - Ba far the best we've got.
Best - Second Best striker definitely.
Lovenkrands/Ameobi - Both Championship quality but can do a job as cover/back-up.
Ranger - Potential is there but currently probably about L1/Championship standard.

Need 1 new striker.. personally I'll like Rondon/Sturridge or even a classic Carr gem out of the blue(Tiote-esque).

Mario Gomez for me.........not that I think this will ever happen but I just like the thought of it - maybe Pardew cruises these boards and will take notice if I say it enough. Gotta love delusion.

Shane Long is the only target who seems realistic, I'd be happy with a £6 million bid...
