(Apologies to PF for starting this thread) Think NP will go radical this week. In order to fully exploit KS's prodigious kicks two of our centre backs will be deployed as wide front men. Schmeicel Simpson Upson Waseleski Konchesky Mahrez James Schlupp Morgan Nugent Huth
Don't be silly Weller... We're at home, and are in a desperate need of win... 9 at the back it is then!
I hope he plays Kramaric and Ulloa as a front pair from the start and goes for it ... but I suspect we will only see one of them on the pitch at a time ...
I would only make 2 changes from the team from the Tottenham game. Kramaric in for Ulloa Schmeichel De Laet Morgan Huth Upson Schlupp Cambiasso Drinkwater Nugent Kramaric Vardy Subs- Schwarzer, Wasilewski, James, King, Knockaert, Mahrez, Ulloa
Personally I'd feel a lot more confident with Schwarzer between the sticks ... we can't afford any more self induced errors; we are in the last chance saloon - also don't feel we need a 5 man defence at home in a game we HAVE to win ... so: Schwarzer Schlupp Morgan Huth de Laet Drinkwater Cambiasso Nugent Vardy Ulloa Kramaric I'd give Nuge a role to link midfield and attack ... hopefully chances then fall to Ulloa and Kramaric (even Vardy) ...
Kasper Schmeichel has come back into the team and we now need stability in goal. He got man of the match against France in the week so need to keep Kasper in now
... that's the one thing he hasn't brought all season ... what could posibly make you think he can bring it now? ... he's flapped like a kid chasing a balloon in most games ... he may have got 'man of the match' in a meaningless mid-week friendly but that is no basis for assuming his domestic form, under pressure, will change as a result ... and he still conceded 2 ... No time for sentimentality I'm afraid ... The Sun gave him the worst player rating for all players including subs in the Spurs game ... now whilst I wouldn't put much store in a Sun columnist's views normally he was pretty much on the money on this one ... we don't have enough games left to have the luxury of letting Kasper search for some form ...
With due respect Proud I think if we went into the game with only 2 in midfield we would end up with a worse scenario than the Hull game. West ham would just play 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 and completely overrun us. I think we have to play 4-4-2 and my team would be: Hamer (KS will play) De Laet Upson Huth Schlupp (fear PK will be picked) Cambiasso Albrighton (No chance) King (Morgan in back 5) Vardy Ulloa (Nugent will play) Kramaric
Absolutely spot on. The thing is he would then blame the parent for putting too much air in the balloon.
We played 2 in midfield at Tottenham. We have to take the game to West Ham and try and completely by pass the midfield and get the ball in behind like we did at Spurs. Use the pace of Schlupp, De Laet, Nugent and Vardy to get behind West Ham and hopefully its suits Kramaric a lot more then the dross we have supplied him so far. Leo didn't do great against Spurs which I'm not surprised as we bring a target man in to play fast counter attacking football
... people tend to focus on his attempts on goal ... he didn't get many chances at Spurs but he still proved his worth ... the chance he set up for Nugent (which Nuge contrived to put over the bar from inside the 6 yard box ) showed what he can do if you get the ball into him in the danger zone ... he has pretty quick feet for such a big man and he doesn't snatch or panic when he receives the ball in the box ... frankly, we need our best finishers finishing ... if he had laid that back to Kramaric there is only one place the ball would have ended up in - the onion bag.
Im not criticising Ulloa just in that system I think Kramaric might have had more success then playing him as a lone striker all the time.
All over but the shouting. Just abit of pride to play for & may be pip Q.P.R into 19th spot. My main focus from now on would be getting contracts sorted for next season, working out who to ship out & who to get in. I don´t know about you but next season is going to be very interesting.
I was encouraged by the Spurs performance overall - so I'm not chucking in the towel just yet - lose to the Hammers then yes - and if we have another Hull performance, I will likely ban anything football related from our house until late August ... but a win against the Hammers, particularly if we could follow it up with a back-to-back, would really set the cat amongst the pigeons ... here's hoping.
I can't see a Big Sam WHU team away from home playing open attacking football like a Spurs team at home which is what we would need for a counter attacking game. As you say we have to take the game to them and hoofing the ball from defence to attack won't work in this league. So imho we need a good midfield to link up with our defence and our attackers. Ulloa has to play, he is still our most natural goalscorer.
Has the Fat lady is getting her song sheet together, I would just like us to go for it! Hammer/Schwarzer De Laet Huth Waseleski Schlupp Cambiasso Drinkwater James Albrighton Ulloa Kramarie More chance of pig's flying!
