At the risk of over complicating things.... I think it should be Ash, he's the greatest captain this or any other club has ever had, but I don't like the image. And this isn't a criticism of Mauled, it's the choice of image itself. How about something like the first one on here which was THE moment which started it all and has the added benefit of featuring other legends? Or is there too much going on in the image? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...nt-began-10-year-adventure-Europa-League.html And the text should be something simple like.... Football's Greatest Captain
If we go ahead with these banners are we having text on them? If so what do people want for each player? I was thinking of just the name so there is continuity and easier to read. I'm only suggesting this as proven with the Cobb Morley Banner the more words the less you can see (from a distance)
This one gave me problems. Ashbee or Windass ? I eventually voted for Deano, for giving me that incredible moment to remember at Wembley,i can still think of that and actually the feel euphoria,iv'e relived it so many times, the memory is so vivid. The fact he's a Hull lad helped make up my mind too. Ashbee is no less a legend,in my mind. His achievment will never be forgotten,or replicated but i if have to choose.... Dig deep, because we clearly have to have both. I'm pleased to see Jock getting votes aswell.
I think you're right. It'll be good if they all have a similar layout. I'm hoping the club will take up the boards feelings and give some publicity to what it's about. I'm planning to talk to them about it.
I think it should just be the surname as well: ASHBEE, ELLIOTT, CARTER, looks less familiar and more respectful than having the christian name as well.
Better to stick with similar generations Ashbee, Elliott, Dawson Or even our true saviours just Pearson & Hull City Council
If they want to join this forum, and contribute, nothing stopping them. If they wanted ownership or credit, then no. I'd be happier if they did their own. Nowt to stop them asking Mauled to knock one up for them if they wanted, would actually be quite cool to see banners with Not606, Amber Nectar and City Independent proudly displayed on them. I like the idea of the face with the surname underneath.
Legend...Elmo...really!!! If elmos a legend I nominate whittle, Theo the great and geo, I'd prob add Payton, whitehurst. Legends an overused word these days
Interesting that we do not have any City legends nominated that played between 1904 and 1939. I will nominate one that played in the only City team to go undefeated at home in the league for a full season in 1932/33. Goalkeeper George Maddison, rated by my dad and grandad as better than Billy Bly.
I think it's understandable that players in more recent memory and known by a larger number of current fans will get more votes. That's no disrespect to those that helped create us. Funnily enough, George Maddison was one I had in mind when looking at the images in the OP. One option there, could be for the fans of players of that generation to get their heads together and vote for banners of that era. As mentioned earlier, we're blessed with a good selection of players that have earned our respect and gratitude, it'd be great to honour as many as we can and add colour to the stadium at the same time.
