Yeah, that was a decent segment, thought Ronda Rousey could've given Steph McMahon a bit more punishment but like you say... kiddiwinks watching.

And therein lies WWE's problem. They have two different demographics in the viewership. On one side you have the kids and families and on the other adult males from 16 upwards who would like to see a more authentic, edgy and violent product. If they emphasise one over the other then they lose significant revenue from merch, PPV/network buys, live shows from whichever side feels they are not getting the product they want to see. So the WWE is constantly compromising the product in order to try and incorporate both types of viewer.

But they created their own problem when the Attitude era happened and the product became more controversial. Prior to that WWF was very much based around traditional 'gimmick' based wrestlers who were associated with special characteristics... Warrior with his Hi-Energy style, Jake the Snake with the bag of snakes, Undertaker with the supernatural, Earthquake with his weight and the link to natural disasters. The Attitude era shifted the style away from this into more adult oriented behaviour and innuendo, more wrestlers with 'normal' names who went off their character and 'attitude' rather than any perceived special power and of course more violent styles of matches. WWE today seems to be unsure about which of those approaches was better.

Having Lesnar as champ and in the title picture now that he's lost it continues their association with MMA. He was even blading in the main event on Sunday night. That's something they reserve for the biggest PPVs nowadays.

  6. I don't see Gerrard being a great manager but I think Carragher would be. Probably be a bit too defensive for my liking though.

reckon he's reached his level myself. can't see him doing much after sky.

i can see neville going on but carragher? i see redknapp being his buddy for years.

i thought he was far more likely to be a coach as he's not got that head dropping attitude and was living for football but right now i reckon neither will.

lfc have not made good managers.. keegan was gash, dalglish lost it, evans had no disciplne, souness hadn't the game plan and a bad eye for a player.

I think you ned the eye for the player first and foremost and as such i'd like to see players become scouts first then progress up coaching roles

  8. Yeah, I think Sky is perfect for Carragher. He loves watching football and he gets to watch a bundle full working for Sky. He gets paid well and it keeps him involved in football too. Wasn't it Carragher that said he saw how Houllier and Benitez deteriorated whilst managing Liverpool and he didn't want that to happen to him?

Toshack wasn't too bad a manager. Matt Busby did alright too.

Toshack did ok in Spain at lesser club but when he moves, managed wmes and went back he really went down hill too

Whelan tried it in, nicol.... None ever did much

Hanson we all though would be manager... He bottled it too

Carragher is prob loving having all the time in the world with his kids a they are just at the point where another 5/6 years and they are grown up.
