    Afternoon all

Not a big fan of all these multi coloured silks in the opener at Ascot but I do like the look of TARTAN TRIP and think he is worth a small dabble. He was progressing nicely until finding the step up in class last time out too much. Dropped back in grade here I can see him running well. 7/1

2.20 Newmarket - COMMISSAR 12-1 BOG E.W . A decent renewal of the Superlative Stakes and I am going to have a small E.W bet on Commissar. Al Zarooni has his string in decent form at the moment and I was really impressed with the selection when he won his maiden when trained by Paul Cole, he failed to fire in the Coventry on his first appearance for his new stable but if bouncing back he would hold at least decent place claims here.

2.55 Newmarket – NASRI 20-1 & SHAMANDAR 18-1 BOG Both E.W - Competitive race here, Nasri is a horse I have always liked and he has done fine since joining Dandy Nicholls, his latest effort in my opinion is best excused and if bouncing back to his form when 3rd to Hawkeyethenoo he would have place claims here. Shamandar is a nice filly but found group 2 company too much last time out, she looks the type to do well in a big field handicap like this and 18-1 is a very nice e.w price.

2.05 York – AMOUR PROPRE 10-1 BOG E.W - A good sprint and I was close to backing Hamish who could easily bounce out and make all of the running, but I am taking a chance on the fitness of Amour Propre, he is a real speed ball and I thought he was going to be a top class sprinter a couple of seasons back, hopefully he can bounce right back to his best and at least run a place here

I have had a dabble on Total Command at York - think the 20-1 available is a cracking price if he was to bounce back to near his best I would fancy him to go close

Really delighted for Hayley and trainer David Simcock! Terrific effort by Dream Ahead. Was not easy for horse and rider, Dream Ahead showed a lot of guts to go through a couple of narrow (?) gaps. This is a very serious racehorse.

(Ahem, cough, cough (a la Nassau), anyone remember someone saying some time ago on the old 606 that Hayley Turner would never win a Group 1? Gudonya Hayley, you showed him!).

My moms horse is running 4.15 Tipperary. Its a donkey called Dooie Dancer and I wouldn't suggest anyone having a bet on this. However, and this is an absolute stab in the dark, is that Seamie Heffernan knows Dooie Dancers trainer very well and rode my moms other horse the last twice. However, he rides Vuvuzela Boy 50/1 in the same race, so he may have chosen it as he thought it had a chance. Only had 2 runs to date and theres been a bit of money so I am going to have a small bet

ROTO: Good luck with Vuvuzela Boy (great name) and hope he wins for you. Am absolutely sated and tired out, it is the best Newmarket July Meeting I have ever had in my life. 4 bets and 3 good winners (same as in comp). Was unable to start off with 1,000 quid (missus would have killed me before first winner) but still showed a handsome profit on the 3 days. As it's the wife's birthday on Monday, couldn't come at a better time. It'll be a wild Monday evening with the family, for sure. Lutine Bell again very unlucky, really does deserve a good win, sure it will soon. All the best.
