Richard Fahey's record in the 1.45 at Doncaster is impressive; 1116001102, winning it in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014. Paul Hanagan is 3-4. This year he relies on two representatives. CANYARI, George Challoner ROYAL CONNOISSEUR, Paul Hanagan
Good luck Rob but Fahey does not seem to positive about their chances in his column on Sportinglife website. He will probably have a 1,2 now.
BENBHINN 2.10 CURRAGH (EACH WAY) For five of the last six years Kevin Prendergast and Jim Bolger have won this race, Bolger with three wins. He introduced Dawn Approach and Whip Rule in this race who both went on to race in Group company. Kevin Prendergast won this last year with the filly Beach Belle who went on to compete in Group races as did his other winner, King Ledley. The Bolger horse is a half-brother to Tasaday, a Group performer for Godolphin. However, Tribal Beat is by Street Cry who is 2-28 with his 2yos during March, April and May. I much prefer the chance of Bebhinn who is the first foal of Passion Overflow. Passion Overflow only ever run twice, second on her debut and then won her second race. She was a half-sister to Fokine who won on his debut before finishing second in the Gimcrack and the Jersey Stakes as a 3yo. She was also a half-sister to Polar Circle who also won on her 2yo debut before winning the listed Empress Stakes. She was also a half-sister to Ocean Ridge who won the Prix Robert Papin and won on her debut. She also finished fifth in the 1000 Guineas and was second in the Coronation Stakes. Conclusion: Godolphin’s Tribal Beat is March foal whilst Benbhinn is not yet 2. He is plenty short enough and even though he may win, Street Cry’s record in the Spring months is a massive negative. However, with a bit of insurance by backing her each way, Benbhinn will return most of the stake by placing and if she is as forward as her family were as 2yos, she may well win. FOCUS ON VENICE 3.10 CURRAGH Focus On Venice has won on his seasonal debut in both the last two seasons and he will find this a great deal easier than the company he was keeping last year. He was last seen when running in the Group3 Greenlands Stakes when faced with an impossible task as a 3yo racing against the likes of Slade Power, Maarek and Viztoria. Apart from Great Minds, he meets a load of journeymen racehorses here. Tommy Stack is 3-5 in this race winning it in 2010 and 2011 before hitting the hat trick last year with Great Minds. Great Minds tries again this year off 19lbs higher. That should be enough to stop him coupled with the fact he needs bottomless ground.
Guys, any idea how Vosnae Romanee is expected to run today? I have singles, doubles and a treble on Puffin Billy, Chris Pea Green and Rule the World.
Start of the flat today at the curragh so I won't go steamy in but will have a couple of bets. 3.10 dashwood 12/1 ew.was 2nd in this race last year and a decent run is expected. The Tommy stack runner is the major danger especially with the ground getting heavier 4.20 David watchman is a trainer to follow early in the season and saddles two in this race and I'm taking fit for the job to go very close,6/1 seems a decent price Limerick 4.35/5.40 rule the world/charbel double 5/1
3:20 Donc - COLONEL MAK 33/1 eway A 21 runner, 6f cavalry charge probably isn't a race to get too involved in. However, going through the cards this one jumped out at a big price. Won the race in 2012 and patchy form since then but does pop up occasionally at big prices. Had a pipe opener on the all weather in Feb and was beaten miles - Even so, it could still sneak a place if running anywhere near its previous form. Good luck!!
No strong fancies on the horses today for me -however after yesterday's football I think Belgium to win in Israel at 8/11 is buying money -bookies have this priced wrong -though not as wrong as Wales @3/1 there last night
I've been following Karezak all bloody winter so can hardly desert him today, despite him giving weight all round. He disappointed in the Triumph but before that was only 3 lengths behind Peace & Co (from whom he was getting 4 lbs, and is now rated 157) and 9 lengths in front of Zarib (level weights). I think he can be competitive here off 142.
Annamatopoeia is pitched back down in more reasonable company today and she ought to take a bit of catching. Available at about 7/2 she might open bigger maybe in Limericks 4 o clock.
The champ on Un Ace. I know the other horse was tying up on the run in but most other jocks would have given up 2 out. Brilliant.
Two cracking finishes at Ascot today, Puffin Billy getting back in front on the line and McCoy somehow getting Un Ace from knowhere to pip Royal Regata on the line too.
Ahhh, frustrating fall from Annamatopoiea. Pretty confident she would have won today was just going to join the leader at the time and doubt she would have been outstayed. Onto the next day.
Tommy stack with the winner in the big one there.said it before he is always a trainer to follow in the first few weeks of the flat this side of the pond
