Alright Lads (and ladies - dont wanna be called sexist), im not a regular poster but am i regular reader of the now doomed BBC 606 and ive made the switch so ive decided to mark the occasion with a rare (but pretty random) article!

About two weeks ago, i saw Steven Taylor in an A1(M) service station (southbound) from about a metre away. I was really surprised by just how big he is and made me realise how big the footballers are on the pitch as Stevie T really doesnt seem that big there! Of course Him and I are like old buddies as i saw him once at some traffic lights in his Black Audi R8 about a month before that...

Also some of my mates have seen Andy Carroll a couple of times in Floritas and Aspers of course!

Any of you have some sightings of famous footballers?

    Howay the Lads!

Met George Best (real and fake) in the same week.

Fake Best got a pint but said he'd hurt is wrist and couldn't write before asking if I had spare change.

The real Best was ID'd by me (asked for everything he had to prove he was telling the truth) while his wife Alex wet herself laughing.

He was great about it though; bought me a pint as compensation for the fake bugger!

Saw Enrique in Ohso when I was pissed as a fart. . . Dread to think what he must have thought of me! Probably thought I was coming onto him!

Also saw Peter Beardsley randomly outside the Strawberry midweek.

My mate saw Hughton in Eldon Square once apparently and Carroll and Nolan together in a nightclub, can't remember which one!

Was on the same flight as Shay Given back from Belfast to Newcastle, he was a dick about turning his iPod off and didn't even smile when I got my mate to take a photo of us together...It was just before he left, I refuse to believe I, or the overly insistent Air Hostess had anything to do with his decision!

My Dad works at the RVI and we once went to a match with one of his SHOs (trainee doctors) who was Philip Albert's friend from home - he promised to invite Albert for dinner, but nothing ever came of it...Gutted!

Met Pedro in Safeway in Ponteland, I was so nervous as I was just a kid and just rambled on about pointless crap! He was really canny, what a great man he is. Saw Colo and Jose in Floritas and thought it was a good idea to go and have a chat. Colo didn't know what I was saying but Jose was pretty good at translating Geordie......at least I hope he was, he probs told Colo that I said his hair was rubbish - something I would NEVER say.

I ran half way down a street in London (near covent garden) to ask Jonas for his signature!

Trouble being that it was just some guy with a dodgey hair doo. Gave him quite a shock!!

Bit silly given that the game was starting in the following hour. Watched it at just 'sports bar'

I let Alan Ball nip in front of me in the taxi rank at Waterloo station. He said "Thank you" in the squeakiest voice I have ever heard.
Sounded just like someone had stamped on his testicles!!

Bumped into Dennis Law and Bobby Charlton in the Business Class Lounge at Heathrow, quite literally knocked Laws off his feet spilt my drink, Charlton laughed when he heard my accent and sent Laws off to get me a replacement.

Was also in the same hotel in Porto (Espino) when Sir Bobby and the Barca team came into the lounge had great craic with them but was with guys from Nissan (Mackems) who weren't interested so dragged me to a strip club instead

Met Jackie Charlton at an awards dinner, genuinely one of the nicest men I've ever met...Was there with a load of footballing mates and he spent a good 20 minutes asking all of us where we played/giving us tips etc.

My mam works with Alan Shoulder's wife as well, he's long before my time so means less to me than others, but he's a nice bloke and always has time to chat with anyone about the good old days!
