Does nobody else think Simmo struggled due to not having a proper winger in front of him. Now I'm not faulting Barton, due to him playing out of position, but he drifted inside quite often which left Simmo to provide width (this made his positional play pretty poor) and to often defend by himself (hence why he backed of instead of closing down).

I agree, people seem to forget that he get's left very exposed. I think he plays a lot better with Raylor on the left, who covers him better than Barton. Although his attacking play is at it's best with Joey as he has quite a nice link up with Barton.

Still at PSV. Think West Brom pulled out because PSV were after something like 10 million?

Our back four does need improving but its tough to do much when the future of one of the players is undecided. Simpson and Colo seem like there going to be here for the long run, so that leaves CB and possibly LB. If Enrique goes, then our side will be significantly weaker at the back and it will be very hard to find anyone remotely close or better than Enrique's ability. At Centre back I believe there is still a position to be filled, Taylor and Williamson both have their flaws and they do not fill me with confidence. I would gladly take Dann if we were to persue a premiership experienced CB, he would compliment Colo and would work well, strong physically, good positioning and heading. Maybe another look at Bassong.... *pause, waits for abuse*.......he was terrific for us, if you take away his attitude when he left. Or the most likely option of bringing in someone with French or Spanish influence, which would allow for better communication etc.

It was one of our strongest areas last season
disagree about Williamson but it's a matter of opinion i suppose
Good god no, please just no

If anything needs to be done to the back 4 other than LB cover and a new RB would be my first choice

If Taylor stays fit and on form we'll already have improved on last season, as Williamson played a lot more games.

I can see Saylor keeping up his goal scoring form and ending up being top scorer with 38 goals

    that's right.

    Saylors goal against Chelsea.

This one gave us quite a lift after Chelsea's early goal.

I too think defence needs improvements, Eric Peters, Vincent Sasso and a right back technically and physically stronger than Simmo... César Azpilicueta, would appease Jose Enrique also.

I've been meaning to ask that for weeks now! It was only last summer he was talked about going to all of the "big clubs", and he had another good season for PSV, so I'm surprised his name isn't doing the rounds more

We were a minute away from finishing in the top ten last season with this defence? And Upson got relegated last season! And he's not a good player in a poor team, he's just generally poor.
