    shay given,saw a huge iceberg on the horizon, what did he do, did he stay n try to stop the ship go down,no he put a dress and a womens hat on n scrambled into the boat and left the real men to suffer(fans) 1 more point would of kept us up, so if he thinks hes worth a cpl more points than steve harper he could of helped us stay up

    But he'd been saving us for years. Final nail in the coffin was getting hammered by Liverpool.

    Anyone who thinks he left for money needs a severe reality check.

    Agree totally. Given did more than enough for many years to deserve our respect and had every right to make the choice to move on. Surely we aren't that fickle we would turn on somebody who has done that much for the club?

    He'd gave his life to us and moved onto better things because the club didn't give him the commitment he'd (ahem)Given us over the years. He had every right to abandon ship, unfortunately for him, a certain youngster from Shrewsbury Town FC was about to make a bit of a name for himself! <laugh>

    Shay is one of the best keepers ever to play for the toon and did so for a long long time, surely he has earnt our respect?
