Was it an opportunity to have a dig or was it genuine concern? http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/arsenal-must-not-do-liverpool-5403168
No way they will win the league with this squad. Not a chance. In fact I dont ever see them winning another title under Wenger. The game has moved on & he has his limitations. He's just not a 38 game manager anymore.
Aslong as Wenger is there they will not win another title. Arsenals squad to be fair to them is very strong, they are probably lacking a world class striker, but the rest of the squad is quality. But Wenger will never gain enough points in the big games to win the league, as he's tactically naive
Dont say that on their board, as I did, as they go postal. Well half of them did, the other half agreed with me.
hehe You never know Sisu, you never know! I bet if someone had made that same statement in 1991 about Man United, they would have been laughed outta the room.
I am wondering if any club other than United and Chelsea will win back to back Premier League titles. Arsenal and City just seem to **** themselves when teams are treating them like champions and raising their game against them.
I seriously doubt any club will manage it tbh. Defending the league title is far harder than winning it. A title winning team always needs some tweaking and rebuilding, and the PL never gives you the sort of time and space needed to achieve that. I don't think we'll ever again see a club have either the massive level of financial dominance Chelsea had in 2004 and 2005, or see another manager with SAF's ability to keep a team going in subsequent seasons without some degree of disruption. Even Busby only managed it once, and Shankly never came close. Paisley managed it three times, but I doubt another manager like him will come along again in a hurry, and even if they do they won't inherit a team that's already top of the league. Mourinho probably has as good a chance as anyone next season, but he'll not only have to deal with fresh challenges from City, Utd and Arsenal but also with Abramovich doing his usual "right, now you have won something I insist you change your style of football, spend less money and promote these youth players / players I like". It brought down Mourinho, Ancelotti and Di Matteo in the past, will be interesting to see if Mourinho has learned how to deal with it this time.
You "could" put it that way but United were champions just as Sky and their money came in and PL football went global. This meant they literally had no competition for many years. Now though Chelsea have to other big spenders to compete with. The odds of you winning 10 titles in the next say 14 years, are far far greater than the odds of United doing what they did, sure Jose won't be with Chelsea for 14 more years anyways, you know it
Literally no competition? So, none of the other clubs were allowed to exploit the tv money, we had our own special deal? Nice story.
Aye, literally no competition. City didn't outspend us between 1991 and 1996 when they got relegated, and Newcastle certainly didn't smash the world transfer record back then, as they had literally no money. And Liverpool in no way had a higher net spend in the 94/95 season than we had in the first ten years of SAF's reign. Stan Collymore, who the **** was that then? And they say we have selective memories...
