Vilhena flew to Southampton on March the 3rd. I was at Koeman's pre-QPR presser in February, and I am not at all surprised about this, after what was said (by Ronald) when the cameras were turned off. (I guess not many people are TOO surprised, but yeah) https://translate.google.co.uk/tran...-persoonlijk-akkoord-.html&edit-text=&act=url DTLW
Do not know too much about him, if someone that does please give us a heads up. Strengths, weaknesses, ready now or full of promise. Playing position etc
Great news. Gotta feel for the Feyenoord fans though,Wiki-P says he's been with them since 9 years old!!
Interesting, don't know much about him, but in all likelihood the purchase that Ronald has considered the most so far.
He doesn't have a set position just yet, which is bad in a way but also good as it reflects his multiple talents. When he played for Koeman, he was the more attacking half of a double pivot with Clasie. That would put him in a Schneiderlin role. Although maybe a bit more like Cork. He's a good defender, a good dribbler, and a good passer. He's kind of like JWP (who in turn is like a younger Davis) to me. An offensively-oriented box-to-box midfielder but not a true attacking mid. Probably a better defender, but JWP might have a bit better mental game. But I think that is why he ended up getting benched. He wasn't playing that well and it's easy to boot someone when they don't have a defined role anyway. Of course Vilhena is still young so he could develop into any number of things-- an attacking mid, a central mid, defensive mid a la Schniederlin, possibly a Tadic-like winger.
The article quotes Sport in a Storm. I saw this article a while ago, but I'd been told off about posting from Newsnow so I missed the chance to beat DTLW But I morally beat him, so there.
Makes me wonder what'll happen to Harry Reed! Been impressed with him this season, when he's played, but surely this will push him further down the pecking order?
Though we do need a deeper squad...Targett has had some game time, despite Bertrand doing so well. Might be good to be able to rotate players.
Vilhena is more of a number 10. Assuming Clasie is Morgan's replacement it doesn't push him down at all.
Hope so. I like what I have seen of him. When is our new team name coming out then ..."Feyerhampton Fire"
Plenty of Champions League* games to be able to rotate players in next season Fran. *or Europa League for the non-dreamers
