Agreed. What it did was to confirm our defeat. But in my view we were already under the cosh. The mancs would have won, with or without Gerrard. Rodgers didnt know how to deal with van Gaal's system and the pressing of his team.

Gerrard was technically our MOTM because his 40 yard pass and tackle on Mata was more than anyone else did in the whole first half.

I thought he ran more than he had in his last full game as well, that test definitely made him more mobile <ok>

  5. Over the top is the modern day fan speciality. Gerrard's the biggest **** to have ever worn the Liverpool shirt and Brod is the luckiest person to have ever lived!

On a more serious not, I know hindsight is a wonderful thing (although I did say it prior to the change being made) but it should have been Lucas coming on at HT, not Gerrard. Even though Lucas was only just returning from injury he was on the bench so fit enoguh to play and he was exactly what we needed in the middle. Yet again Brod (not over reacting <laugh>) went with sentiment IMO

Is someone going edit the title because it makes us look like stupid Chelsea fans who have no respect or understanding of loyalty!

Substitutes has never been one of Rodgers' strong points. He's good at changing stuff tactically in the middle of a game but he can be guilty of bringing the wrong people on from the bench.

In fairness he didn't envisage some one getting sent off after 60 secs coming on the pitch.

Ok Gerrard lost his cool for a split second and you Liverpool fans forget the impact and loyalty Gerrard have given Liverpool and crucify the guy.....Gerrard is a Liverpool legend that the club would be a lot poorer without him.....yes he did wrong but so did others but there is no need to go overboard and slag one of the best players in Liverpool's history....shame on some of you.....

Gerrad's heat map. Not saying he would have changed the game enough for us to win, but he did not help the cause. Have to hope City, Arsenal and Chelsea beat Utd to bring 4th back in reach

Stevie's sending off certainly didn't help us but Rodgers's tactics and set up are costing us.

Stevie didn't cost us top 4 this season - Rodgers's awful tactics in the first 3-4 months of the season is what will eventually screw us over.

At HT - I would have put Mario on. Having two strikers would have pushed their defence deeper and given us more room to operate.

The first half, Man U were so high up the pitch.

Find this thread cringy. Real legend is Gerrard, regardless of a moment of madness. Feel bad for the guy, would of went down as our greatest in history but this season has tarnished him.

Doubt it. His low moments this season & last season will be forgotten about when talking about Gerrard in 5-10 years.

Notice when Benitez is mentioned its always Istanbul, all the big European results under him & how strong a team he built. Not many remember the low moments of his time at Liverpool when thinking about him.
