I don't think he'd be bothered about having to "hide" anything. He has never shown any inkling for giving a **** what others think <laugh>

He couldn't give a damn, but I'm sure the authorities would be scrutinizing the accounts of companies he owns.

Ha, and the rest. I'd expect they've already been released, but under City "laws" they only need to be released to 2 individuals, so Ashley and Charnley promptly had a figures-burning party.

    Why would they bother ?

Fear of upsetting the fans ?

They're due at the end of the month.

They could stick it up in big red letters and numbers "Payment of £50 million to Mike Ashley" and 50,000 would still turn up to 'support the team'.

I started this thread on the presumption that the finances would be announced within a day or two, its been a week now and I believe the majority of premiership teams have announced theirs, so I am unsure what the delay is. Maybe it takes alot of time to count all the money? Im imaging a room full of money like ducktales!

I for one would not be calling for blood at the announcement. I would actually be proud if we made 50m profit and set a premier league/european record for the most money made in a financial year. Its very hide to disguise it and if we do proceed to be self sustainable only spending the money we make, I would care less about the Sports D advertising. We are capable of making 20-50m a year and if that was reinvested on a yearly basis, i think it would be enough to make slow but visable progression. A little transparencyinto our finances would go a long way with our fans.

    "our" finances?

I am sorry to say that if you think that they are 'your' finances then you are the product.

Lol, it might be hugely optimistic to this and perhaps naiave to believe that we have been working towards this financial position for the last 4 -5 years and now we are possibly self sustainable we could be in a position to push on. The only other team i could say are in our position are Chelsea at the moment and thats because they have made decent profits in their last two annual finanical statements (obviously the endless amount of money in reserve helps). But if FFP is a real thinng taht teams are fearful of and working hard to adhere to, then we (NUFC as a whole) are exceeding and surpassing any other team.

Mikes failure to take Rangers over may well be beneficial for us and we cant truely jedge this until A: financial results are in and B: our summer transfer activity. I am expecting a high number of quality players to come in, whether their well known or players we have never heard off, I have written this season off and and basically looking at next season with optimism and hope. De Jong, S taylor and Rolando back will be massive as well as the Nottingham forrest boys. Some good youngsters coming through. We could have it a lot worse. A lot lot worse.

Based on the past I suspect that if we sign anyone it will be the usual bargain basement turd that we have become accustomed to. Players that will take us to mid-table and no further. As for this new 'head coach' - If we finish top 10 it will be Carver, if not I suspect it will be Remi Garde.

I've long since taken the approach of 'expect nothing' and if you get more than nothing, be grateful. Second guessing or expecting anything, often/always leads to anger and frustration when it comes to all things NUFC.

A sound and sensible attitude to take. <ok>
Besides there is much more to life than getting worked up over NUFC.

I can almost guarantee that the club will announce the 2013/14 financial statement on Monday 23rd March. Fans forum now out of the way and a 4 week gap until the next home game to minimise the backlash. All coincidence of course.

I think he has found a way of getting that extra 30million out of the club without paying down his loan. He will probably only get 20p in the pound but its better than nothing.

You are correct they have to be in at companies house by the 31st March. I work in finance so have access to companies house records.

I have looked and the accounts for 2013/14 have not been filed yet. Not sure whether I'm allowed to do this but if anyone is interested here are the figures from previous years.

I'm not sure where making profits gets us really. Other than we are certain that Mike Ashley's pockets will not be empty. If football genuinely is supposed to be profitmaking, we would have seen the world's top moneymen take a slice of the pie long ago. Up till now, the only real rich to enter into football has been the Middle Eastern nations, Roman Abramovich and perhaps a select few others, whom are bound to football by one reason and one reason only, which is the love of the game.
Let's be honest here, no matter which way you look at it, football is ultimately a form of entertainment/sport, and in my opinion, in NO WAY, should it ever be thought of as a business.
If football were to be run like a business, the likes of PSG, Chelsea, Man City, would never have even gotten anywhere near success in the current era.

Which is why it is a terrible notion that football should be run like a business. Yes, we can limit our spending so as not to reach Freddie Shepherd-like proportions. Yes, we should not sign blank cheques for quality players, but still, we should not be expecting profits and success to come hand in hand, unless we are a club the size of Real Madrid, Manure, Barca, who possess gargantuan fixed assets and have endorsements the size of Greenland to fall back on.

My point here is simple, I want to see spending by the club I love to watch. I do not want to wake up and see financial reports telling me that my club has earned 300million pounds this season in profit that is only going to end up in the pockets of the man at the top of the pyramid, instead I would rather us make progress in terms of getting the club somewhere. Europe, UCL, it's been 20 years since we were last in it, making profits to fill other's bank accounts? I'd rather not, thank you. I'd rather see us make an expensive signing to boost our chances on the pitch than to see a profit.
