I think we all agree, there is nothing better then an away win or just an away game in general, always brilliant, whats your favourite away day? COYH
Cardiff away. Leeds United relegation day. http://www.youtube.com/user/tomthebloobird#p/u/21/7KLtQoE2X0g
Yeovil away for the 1st promotion, Sheff Weds the year after..and Newcastle in the premier league springs to mind, any trip which starts with a strip club at midday has got to up there
Yes i never thought that day would be bettered. Then came the 2007/2008 season and Wembley, followed by 2008/09 PL season @ Arsenal, Tottenham and West Brom. But it has to be Wembley. If that day is ever matched never mind bettered then i hope i am around to for it.
even this season, sheffield united away was top class! went from Brilliant-Horrific-Ecstatic! 2-0 up 2-2, 3-2, jimmy bullard amazing! i just remember Mannone running around near us fans, he was jumping up and down, then ran the full length of the pitch to celebrate with the other players, what a boxing day game!
What a night that was. About 7,000 city fans (no exaggeration) behind the goal as we thrashed them 4-2. Barmby's volley is a goal I'll remember for a long time
Great day out, was sure we'd go down - stunning Deano goal and the scum going down instead of us. Can't forget the Cardiff fans cheering our coach and jumping up and down singing we all hate L**ds scum! Don't beat Wembley though - History and we were there!!!
Surely Wembely can't count? It was a neutral venue not away. Arsenal or Spurs for me. Newcastle, Sheff Weds, Sheff U and Liverpool also stand out.
Sheff Wed away, 4-2. Best night of my life, beats Wembley as well. Everything about it was amazing, delayed kick off, the 7,000+ City fans.. people still coming in towards half time, opening extra space for us. Atmosphere was amazing, and of course Barmby!
In no order :Yeovil, Arsenal, Sheff Wed, The battle of Brammel Lane, Blackburn and Cradiff when TWS got relegated
Not many mention Watford away (play offs) - was an amazing day and probably the best save I ever saw (Boaz). We had empty seats that day too - shame on the tiger nation. Sheff Wed (4-2) is arguably my favourite away day. Still fresh in the mind and as already mentioned it was the day when we returned from the doldrums. Blackburn away in the Prem was good for all it meant. Bradford away on two occasions was also memorable - the game we had two stands and also the FA Cup game in 1987(?)
easy...and fans of 35 + may recognise this Bradford away in 1989 2-3 after our long run without a victory of any sort. Ian McParland grabbing the winner and jumping on the fence in front of the 2000 away fans like a man possessed....we went mental
Coventry City away in the Championship. First away team to win at the then new Ricoh Arena. Stick that in your Rothmans year book!!!!
There's 5 that really stand out for me, Sheffield Wednesday in 2004, Bradford in 2005, West Brom in 2008, Liverpool in 2008 and even though we lost Man United in 2008. Despite the traffic problems it was a great night in Sheffield that night with the goal of the season from Nick Barmby topping things off and the away win at Bradford that season pretty much sealed promotion, and i remember there being more city fans than Bradford fans that day too! West Brom felt like the first time most of us felt we could challenge for the play offs that season and Campbell and Folan chipped in with 2 good goals (Folan's best game in a city shirt too). Even though we were robbed horribly at Anfield (no pun intended) to have them on the ropes like we did at 2-0 up still gave me some element of bragging rights over my liverpool supporting pals and i'll never forget the praise we got from MOTD that night. Although we lost, Man United away that season felt like a win. Had we been playing another 10 minutes i'm sure we'd have equalised and shrek would have been sent off. It was one of those games that even at 4-1 down most of us still enjoyed. I'll always remember Sir Alex saying in the matchday programe saying that you'd never have thought at the start of the season when we went to Old Trafford for that match we'd be above Man United in the table.
My 5: Chelsea 65/66 in the FA Cup 6th ... 8 years old, special train, the excitement, the result. It got me hooked for life. Sheffield Utd 70/71 -- The Battle of Bramall & (briefly) top of the league. Coventry 71/72 in the FA Cup again - 1st away match without parent(s). Yeovil 03/04 -- what more to say? Norwich 10/11 -- "31 games and we're still here" turning into "31 games it ended here". Really there have been too many. Cardiff, ManU and Liverpool as mentioned above. The 5-4 win at Orient, Arsenal, even Swansea when the ref cheated to keep the Jacks in the league,
