My youngest daughter has become a teenager today, hence a thought provoking reality alarmingly comes to me- my age! where did all the time go!? ...so a question mainly to the older posters on here, (and the younger ones too) does time really seem to pass more rapidly the older you get?

Seems only a such short while ago that my youngest was - just small, ...apologies to wax rhapsodic-ally regarding an 'age old theme' ... to me time seems to be flying nowadays and gets quicker by the day!

My youngest was 21 yesterday and the oldest is 24. I remember the day they were born like it was just a few years ago.

The thing about age nowadays though is that when I was a kid and my dad was in his mid fifties, I though he was an old man. Hell, he was an old man. Generally we're much fitter and healthier these days, I'm out golfing and in the gym 3 days a week and I don't think I'm old at all. Age is just a state of mind Diddles!

They also say that you're only as old as the woman your with, so I'm 43!

I'm 60 this year and still doubt it, I'd take anyone on though Mrs Smug despairs.

Each year vanishes quicker than a pie in the Hull manager's office ............ it's frightening.

Thankfully I've lived enough to fill 3 lives so I'd never complain.

If I die tomorrow I'd have to say I've truly lived my life .......... it's been extraordinary.

You got that bit right mate.

I was orphaned at seven so not exactly the best start a kid could wish for.

Incredible highs and abysmal lows. That`s life. You either cope with it or you don`t. Simple as that.

Likewise mate no complaints from me - on retrospect I'm happy and content with my lot, I certainly don't feel 'old' at 53, I just have a desire to live my life nowadays without the seemingly speediness of 'time' that seems to accompany it

I was orphaned early in life though, to be fair, I did murder my parents <laugh>

In truth I was fostered around 6 or 7 year old and never knew wtf was going on so I sympathise with you.

Since then I've done things I could never have dreamed of.

    In the words of Pink Floyd's "Time" song;

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours in an off-hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say

    or even Bowie's -
'Time, he flexes like a whore
    Falls ****ing to the floor'

    that's rather apt too
