Have seen on another forum and twitter that CP has 7 games to prove himself or he`s history what do you reckon. Obviously we have to hit the ground running but 7 games and during those 7 what does he have to do win akll 7 remain undefeated play with panash . 7 an odd number too aint it. Pressures definately on CP Without a doubt
Doubt thats true to be honest, I think he's in it for the long-haul. The owners have given him plenty of money to spend to bring in his own players, I don't think they will then turn around and sack him when. Although if the new season starts as poorly as the last one ended, they may not have a choice.
It is a brand new team. It may take a few months to gel. I think that he may need more than 7 games. I am pleased though that the owners are backing Chris Powell with a decent team, and I hope he can prove himself and justify the faith of the board.
Reckon they'll give him until at least Christmas, and if we are not in contention by then, I reckon the axe might fall.
7 games is just complete bull, the new owners have let Chris spend serious money (for L1) on players and wages to build his own team, he will be given at least up to the next transfer window.
But that was under Murray et al. I think our new owners will have already learnt from the mistake of sacking managers willy-nilly.
What a load of old tosh. I have complete faith in Sir Chris, his signings and the board. I can't believe I'm even responding to this ridiculous post.
Serious reply, can't remember all of the reasons, but I know one of them was that he got the team lost in the middle of Newcastle whilst on a jog, had them running up along a motorway trying to find their way back or something.
He got the team lost? Must be something of a habit. I remember driving past Beckenham Place Park and saw a group of tracksuited men looking confused on the street, all looking at a map. At the head of the crowd were Dowie and Kit Symons so I realised it was the Palarse lot obviously lost...while on a team jog.
when the team were playing a game 'tup North' he got the coach to take a detour and drop him off at his family home, the rest of the squad went to hotel, next day he turned up at ground at 2:30 too late to do team talk. Murray sacked him early the next week.
Bit of an odd statement... if we lose the first 7 games Powell will be gone, but you don't throw a couple of million at a squad that the manager wants only to sack him after a few dodgy performances. CP has a lot to prove this year, but a couple of good early performances, and just some glimpses of attacking exciting football and he'll be the saviour again! Just as long as we don't have anything as limp as Swindon, Brighton and Orient at home last year...
There was more to the "lost in Newcastle" story. Murray never divulged, as I understand, for legal reasons... so I'll only say it was to do with a physical altercation, a manager and a member of the board
Didn't murry also say that bob dowie wasn't to be involved at all, then caught him coming out of the dressing room before a match?
