Teddy has been called up by the U19 England team................think his diagonal runs will benefit the team no end.

Well good for him yes, but for Ipswich Town, his employers, who pay his wages perhaps not so good. With him being so young, and the fact that he has played several games for us, games for England are not going to help our cause one iota, at this crucial stage of the season. MM singled him out some time ago indicating that he was never going to play in all the matches, because of his age, and how crucial rest was to him

Injury is the obvious potential problem, tiredness will come into it, and the travel side of it will not help, same applies to Bru, Berra, and Murphy, bear in mind our small squad

    Disagree TS...

This is an incredible opportunity for him for a number of reasons. The opportunity to play for his country being just one of them...
The chance to train and play with some of the most talented players, coaches, support staff that we have in this country will provide Teddy with a far more rounded footballing education as well as develop on a personal level. Ted has only ever been coached by Mick and having the influence of others can unlock other areas of his game, adding more strings to his bow as it were...
The confidence that can be gained from this exposure will help him develop and potentially inspire the next generation of footballing talents coming through the ranks at ITFC

There is always a balancing act in terms of fatigue (physical & more importantly Mental) as well as workload, but I would support any national squad programmes that ITFC players are involved in as the potential to develop is far greater than if they are locked up and only able to train at Playford Road.

My mantra (and career) is on 'Athlete Development' so I will place my soapbox back into the cupboard on this one as I'm interested to hear others views on this and the potential impact(s) <ok>
