It wasn't a fluke, it was due in many ways to the genius of Suarez, great team spirit, tactics and playing less games than Chelsea and Arsenal.
Only if all things were the same this season could it be compared, Saints are doing a great under Koeman but LvG must is doing no better than Moyes despite the massive spend and being part timers this season.
Ain't saying we'd be 2nd this season if we weren't in Europe but we'd deffo have a few more league points than we have now.

What a pointless discussion. That was then and this is now. We're getting better, by and large.

    overall?

    lets see...

    Pros:
    • We are deffo better defensively in this set up.
    • We have a bit more squad depth right now before gerrard and jonhson and maybe toure f off.
    Cons:
    • We do not have luis suarez up front
So..... I did do a comparision using a vlookup table of our games in 2013/14 and this year. so far (26 played)

    upload_2015-2-24_13-8-27.png

We are 16 points worse off right now that last year... differences in bold.

You will see some are circumstance, some self inflicted like leicester 2-2 for example...

Are we better.................... well the tbale above ignores time of year and form doesn't it... the early part of the year this year we were worse than the early part of last season. last year we started a huge run but that would start on game 25 v arsenal and run for 11 games.

RIGHT NOW... from december to feb we have been better than last year. I doubt we will go and do 11 in a row won but that is not the issue is it... thats one off.

If we are better its only cos we have some more resources that have actually come in compared to the aspas, moses et al of last year.

I feel we did a lot better last year up to december and we cannot ignore how bad we were until a few injuries ;) helped rodgers luck into this system

How many penalties we have this year?. Surely not as many as last year. Man City is still within our sight.:emoticon-0148-yes:

Brendan brings on Gerrard and changes formation to release Henderson and within minutes Henderson is in a goalscoring position #luckedout

Was referring more to the #lucky deflected pass from Sturridge, and the tackle which bounces of Hendo and over the keeper...

Lallana was poor for the whole 90 mins. Sterling at least grew into the game.

Yes but it was poor having two lads not wanting rwb slot and zero press so while sterling might have improved I'm not very impressed at all
