Well I think Big Sam would be ideal for us, and give him a 5 year deal.

    He would keep us up.

He would sort out all the t w a t s that are currently taking out team down.

His team will strike fear into anyone who plays us - especially at The SOL.

I think he is a perfect fit for us.

PS - I never wanted MON because of his style of football - PROVEN RIGHT.
I never wanted PDC - he was a gamble which initially worked but was always gonna fail - PROVEN RIGHT
I was undecided on Gus, because he had no PL experience.

So Come on Ellis, Make ME HAPPY.

Sorry mate but he was making us a much worse outfit! One of the few good things MA has done for us was to get rid of him. It is also worth noting that the West Ham fans want him out too. He isn't the right man for your club BUT I hope you get him!

I'm swaying between McClaren and Mick myself.

Problem is there are so few managers available. I would have Sam here as I believe he is probably the best out of a very poor bunch.
Certainly needs a strong character to deal with whatever poison there is going on behind the scenes.
Not too sure about McLaren mind but id back any manager coming to Sunderland because it must be one of the worst jobs in management to take on at the minute.

I remember the comments when Sam took over the Mags, but I can't remember who's views they were. Who exactly has been fickle?

ANyway. Don't want Sam. I think it's a risk as we have one natural winger. Sam needs wingers. Don't think he can manage without them.

Hull supporters are always telling us how good their manager is perhaps we should give him a ring. <cheers>

HordenM, well said about the players. They are an absolute disgrace.
GG, agree with you on the managers. McLaren Deffo my first choice but Sam would at least see us get mid table boredom.

I'm not being provocative in anyway but west ham fans are as bad as your lot I.e moaning about the style when the substance is obviously there. Do you honestly think he was given enough time at your place? It takes time to build a club and it's seemed you had no time for him from day one so the pressure was constantly on. But tbh whatever the reason he was a bad fit for nufc but I think his attitude, experience and ability to make teams better than the sum of their parts are ideal for us

Could be in the Championship by the time he gets 'his' team. In the meantime he'd have to use this team and unless Alvarez and Gomez suddenly become roadrunner then we don't have the width for Big Sam's way of playing.

I could link the players he bought for Newcastle and the prices he paid in his tenure with us - it isn't pretty.

Amdy Faye, Abdoulaye Faye, Rosenthal, Alan Smith, etc. There was some real dross we paid out good money for. We were playing terrible football and being told we were lucky to have it, the results were decent at first but overall not very good and the last couple of months we were listless and aimless. Pretty sure it was under is tenure that Derby got 4 points from us - in the season they got the lowest Prem tally ever of 14 - and that was because we got a late equaliser to prevent them doing the double over us. We had many, many legitimate reasons to want him out but ultimately Ashley wanted his own man and, as we now know, he does what he wants anyway.

No I get what you mean but even I was not a fan of his approach (I want effort and results regardless of style to be honest. His hit and hope style was not working for us. He tried to implement a style that did not suit what we had and his pig headedness meant that he persisted. He has one of the worse win percentage records of our PL managers! If you think he is what Sunderland need then fair enough. I genuinely do not think so.

Why so keen on McClaren GG? Not disagreeing, just interested to hear. I'm worried he let the players run the England team and would be too 'nice' to shake our club to the core. PDC was right, just too loony to pull it off. Fear SM might not be a strong enough personality but I know he has major strengths
