Well, yes, being multi millionaires (in Ecclestone's case, a multi billionaire) they attracted money, notably in the form of the Mittal's interest. But the half-decent football we played in the Championship can only very indirectly be credited to Briatore, and even more remotely to Eccles. For me, Fernandes has to prove himself if, as seems hugely likely, we are relegated. He needs to get a grip and convince fans that we have direction and a realistic, achievable plan. It will be a significant undertaking. But he's the chairman and that's his job. If he's seen to be failing next season, fans will not be so tolerant.
We were heading for League One under their stellar leadership. It was Bhatia who brought in Warnock who saved us from all but certain relegation. After Watford ended our 19 game undefeated run the following season Briatore wanted Warnock sacked. Lunatics yes, clever ones no. They sold the club "debt free", but it was far from a club in a good financial state. The contracts handed out to Agyemang and One Size comes to mind. Fernandes could sell the club today "debt free", it means nothing. Apart from that I get your points and I'm not disagreeing with them apart from the above. I see what you're saying regarding Fernandes and it's hard to disagree with much of it. We're not going anywhere fast under him it looks like. His results with plenty of time in charge is down right abysmal, promotion apart (which was fantastic to experience at Wembley). But to fail in the Premier League at the second attempt so poorly as we have is inexusable.
Agree he was naive to trust Hughes as much as he did, Swords. But if he and his syndicate members bear those losses (and the Football League buys that), then I'd allow him to put it down to experience, so long as he's a wiser man going forward. If the Football League issues are not involved, then we are in a huge period of uncertainty, and how much flack TF takes and how much the FL takes will be a matter of much speculation by our fans, and indeed, football fans in general.
Back to the OP... I thought Furlong had already shown himself to be vulnerable. I think it was extremely naïve to put him out against Bolasie. Furlong should not have been used to bolster Ramsey's argument about the youth set-up. Simpson might not have been an EPL class fullback but he would have been better than Furlong. Bringing on Hill at half time against CP, and the associated reorganisation, made us better still than anything Simpson might have offered. Furlong should have been blooded in the same way as the other youngsters, given part of a game to get experience rather than being fielded against one of the division's form wingers.
I disagree. We are headed into the wilderness of the Conference at a rate of knots. I just hope there is a club left after him.
Come on Danish, Briatore and Ecclestone were a disaster zone! They never gave a monkeys about Rangers. They happened on Warnock by some degree of luck, having sacked the 6 previous managers in as many minutes, and then by some absurd stroke of luck Warnock managed to change us from from relegation fodder to league champions in a season. Almost unheard of! Any success Tango & Cash had at Rangers was more by accident than design. I'm not defending TF's record but those other two were worse.
How can anyone honestly believe Tango and Cash were great owners? They managed to buy in and get out with a profit but did they give a f*** for the fans or the club? Sorry to be old fashioned but that kind of means something to me.
Furlong is quick and matched Bolasie but he didn't track him well without the ball and Bolasie stole away 5 times in the first half because he knew the ball was coming It was naive of course and Bolasie needed crunching first 5 He is clever I watched him drift inside before spinning off with the ball at his feet he is also tricky Hill would of got roasted close up but he hung off second off as a good pro does and we played better and the supply was cut off 10 minutes of madness Furlong will be back he will learn
i have to say i was one in the TF camp, but now think he is totally out of his depth, i firmly believe that he needs to step back and allow Amit Bhattia to take the lead.
Muddled, Confused and Angry? Why anyone is now looking back at an era is beyond me unless of course at last you need to question your infection? Name dropping new players new managers ... We have a great squad and credit to Harold and the club for that Our fan base is now rubbishing players the likes of we couldn't dream of having 5 years ago I see our job as supporting now more than ever after the failures of the past Win or lose we are still truly QPR The players managers and idiot business people will come and go Get to that point and I guarantee you life looks better If we are relegated then so bloody what it not our fault so why let the infection win? The blame game shouldn't matter Get to that point and feel proud to be QPR again doesn't mean we have to win stuff
Everyone knows that Palace's wide men are their only danger. So we needed pace in the full back positions. Huge mistake not to play Ned at right back from the off. And to leave Bobby on the bench in a game we had to win. Hope Saturday finally stops Adel fans demanding he's given a regular starting place. Yes his little flicks and nutmegs are a joy to watch. But the bloke is clearly unfit and seems incapable of making a run into the danger area. We're simply not good or strong enough to be able to carry him.
Not surprising that the Mail would want to lampoon one of the smaller clubs as ****ty fee-based journalism (sic) is their stock in trade. Very surprising that so many of our so-called supporters are ready to vilify our owner because of it though. TF has done nothing more than waste his money by being over enthusiastic about what was possible in the short term and trying to take our club forward more quickly that its infrastructure would allow. A cock-up for sure but one driven by passion which is what I assumed we all had for QPR (wrongly as it turned out).
Aah Passion - Yes I know that word well as it is one of the 4 key words I take with me to EVERY team I work with and have ever worked with. Firstly you'll be amazed how many meanings this word has for different people - I lead my teams to understand that passion is firstly always trying to do things the right way, a real love for making sure everyone is aligned and together, that our primary objectives are fully understood and that the outside World, whomever that may be can see it as clearly as a beautiful sunset from the top of a mountain. That when we are pushing ourselves and making mistakes, that we understand it is OK, because we will have been pushing ourselves and learning - but we NEVER make the same mistakes again. I as a leader make sure that I have a passion to ensure the right Business plans and Action plans are in place, that they are realistic for sustainable growth and success and that I have the passion to procure and further develop the right team to lift these plans. Passion is not being a lazy gambler, great intentions is not passion, underestimating is not passion, not learning from the same repeated mistakes is not passion, enthusiasm is not passion, over working is not passion, desire is not passion. Passion is to want to create something that no one else could, passion is bringing people with you, developing them, empowering them with the tools and then mentoring as a father, passion is living and breathing what you preach, passion is a magnificent force that has to be used carefully as in the same way it can be a godly force it can conversely become destructive and tiresome. If you're interested the other words are Ownership, Communication & Fun. It has served me ok from Night clubs and bars, to mini cabs, to flat pack furniture to shipping and now Oil & Gas. It's the same everywhere, it's all about maximizing the forces around you. Do you now after reading all this blah, blah honestly believe that Fernandes' tenure smacks you in the face with passion?
Danish, let me know when you're ready, willing and above all, able to splash a £billion or so on our football club and I will happily accept your banal business motivation as the new ethics behind QPR. In the meantime I'm sticking with the guy who has behaved exactly as most fans would have done while bankrolling our shared dream as never before.
Actually what Beth wrote was that we do not have a Premiership level RB...I wrote nowt about selling Simpson...In Simpson we would have had a back up....Arry did not see what we are missing one
So no point then, you define passion with wasting your money - I tell you what there's a dog running somewhere from Trap 1, put some passion into that. And interesting that you state a Billion - is that how much Fernandes would have to plough in to get it right? You stick with your Guy - You're likely to be in for a nasty shock and feel very let down, still, what the Hell eh!! or to it in a handcart
I'd say it was Harry, as he was intent on playing with wing backs and bought players to play that system. He then promptly ditched that idea!!
