This ****ing idiot winds me up everytime he opens his bloody mouth!! When quizzed about his backline and the calls for change, he replied "If I wanted to change it where are all the defenders coming from?” McCarthy responded when quizzed on his continued selection of his current back four. “I’ve got the defenders that I have. “Jonathan Parr set the goal up for us. I thought he was great today. I think he has been, playing further forward [in midfield]. “It’s always the same, everybody can pick the team for me when we we’re getting beaten. Arrogant prick!!
I think Mick's got a point to a certain degree but he's been raving about Matt Clarke for a while without playing him who could fit in that RB role, and either rest Chambo or move him back into the middle and rest Smith who we all know has looked a little bit lightweight. Or failing that bring back Hewitt from Colchester!? Personally I think it's a public cry for help aimed at the owner. 'Give me money to get a defender in', that sort of thing
Or instead of bringing in the likes of bloody Varney and Wood, strengthen where you feel its needed, its not bloody rocket science!! Sorry but Muck does not have a leg to stand on here, Hewitt, Chambers, Clarke, Smith, Berra and Mings added to that, any loanees if needed!! Only one person to blame if Muck thinks the defence is tired but i dont think Muck has any mirrors!!
Spanish Hewitt isn't good enough. Clarke is untested but could well be, I feel sorry for him at not getting an opportunity. Take Smith out of that firing line though. Only one person to blame on Murphy being an absolute GOAL MACHINE but I'm very much a glass half full kinda guy............. Wood so far has been poor - and Varney hasn't exactly done much to disprove peoples viewpoint when he signed........... God I Hope McGoldrick is back tomorrow.
One worrying thing about Mick's post-match comments was his apology for making attacking substitutions. He believes that by playing Varney and Wood, and taking off a couple of midfielders, we lost our shape and organisation. Does he regret making attacking substitutions? He may well have a point, because Middlesbrough were all over us late on, but I think it's more a psychological issue and an error in the back four, rather than putting on substitutions to chase the game. Let's be honest, most of us, if we were in McCarthy's position, would throw on a couple of attackers. It makes me wonder whether we'll see a more cautious substituting philosophy come Tuesday. I'd half imagine that, if we're a goal down against Bolton, McCarthy would replace a midfielder with a defender!
Haha, you know what Spanish, I wouldn't be surprised. At least, in theory, the defence would be a little better.
MM is spouting rubbish here it is all deflection, he knows he needs to change our back line but he is to bloody minded to do it...we have Parr who is a full back, I know that's not the position he started his career at but that is the position he has played at the highest level, he is also right footed but is just as comfortable on the left, what is stopping MM making this most obvious of changes? It is so bloody clear it is now getting embarrassing, Parr at RB move Chambers next to Berra, Mings LB, how much more balance would you want in a back four, then play with some width in a 442 or failing that if Didsy is now fit play narrow and go with a front 3 with Didsy in the hole.....sorry MM but you have more than enough capable players in our squad to play either of these formations, with the added bonus of playing correct players in the correct positions!
I do my best! Maybe I will apply in the summer if things change, all joking aside I like MM but like any manager he has is shortfalls; narrow mindedness, stubbornness or arrogance, maybe it is all of these, he needs to get his head around it as our season hangs by a very fine thread!
I will say MANY will not like what Mick says but I've had this conversation before. He'll back the players 100% of the time and try to take the blame away from the players. Many don't like his approach but it's far better than having a meltdown like Keane infront of the press and losing the players. He will have it out with every single player behind closed doors don't worry about that! Little story - Marcus Stewart did an evening with Ipswich fans in the South West. He had a great Mick story from Sunderland. He wasn't playing well, and got called into the managers room - Mick " I'm dropping you for saturdays game Stewy " - Stewy " Why Mick ? " " Because you have been s*** of late " - Stewy actually cracked up and they had a good laugh. He told us he'll tell everyone straight. Also, later in his career after Stewy asked to drop down a level, they met a couple of years later - Mick walked straight up to him and said " If I'd kept you one more year you'd have kept us up " - Marcus Stewart had massive praise for Mick. Just thought I'd share anyway! Neither do I weighty.
You have lost me Westy, whats that got to do with Mick spouting **** that he cant change the defence as he has nobody to come in and the bloke is an arrogant, stubborn jumped up prick, who i hope one day soon will have to resign for some reason, coz we aint gonna sack him!! In my opinion of course! Anyhow, you cant see it so its best to just have a differing opinion and leave it there!!
