How can there be only 2 mins added, There were 5 substitutions in the half. As PNP said 'says it all'
Well that was dogshit, wasn't it? Ridiculously poor first half and a stroll to the final whistle. Never threatened them, struggled to put two passes together and defended like amateurs. Poor in virtually every position with maybe only Lloris and Kane doing nothing wrong. Shows how much work we've still got to do, I suppose. Need to clear out the dead wood, bring in some experience in the spine and try to find a leader or two. Pochettino can always replay this non-display to Levy to try and loosen the purse strings in the summer. Good luck! I think Clattenburg just didn't bother, because the game was finished. He could've added 20 and I don't think we'd have scored. He was **** again, though. Had virtually nothing to do and still got it wrong, while having a laugh and a joke with Rooney. Prick.
Well that was dogshite. Marginally better in the second half in so far as we at least constrained United's attacking play a little, but it was a case of shutting the stable doors well after the horses bolted. And even in that second period we still created very very little. It is very worrying that neither the players or manager could figure out that having Bentaleb (at over 6ft and quite physical) instead of Mason (about 4 inches shorter and more of a terrier than a strongman) marking Fellaini on the long balls was the way to sort out United, as well as getting the pressing game going a bit better. A little galling that United's best game of the season by a long shot also coincided with one of the worst Spurs performances I have ever seen certainly over 45 mins if not over 90. As good as United were relative to the rest of their season, we could have got something there if we hadn't been playing football of a frankly laughable quality. It shows that we have a long way still to go, that having a youthful team isn't always a good thing (oh for an experienced head to have sorted out that midfield problem on the pitch in the first half when we were still in the game), and that Pochettino also is still developing as a coach. Bringing Dembele on helped a bit, and was a ballsy first half move, but the bigger problem was the Bentaleb/Mason midfield organisation that he only got sorted in the break.
I fully expect Liverpool to put at least 3 past them next week, I don't think there very good at all, words cannot describe how bad that was. In hindsight maybe Fazio would have been a better choice to cope with the launched balls up to fellani. I like Dier as a player but he makes far too many mistakes.
Savage is getting all excited about Manure again. If we had turned up in the first half they would still have looked ordinary. In the second half when we played at about one third of our capabilities they didn't really threaten. Let's hope this was a blip in our progress and we've got it out of our system.
I don't think that it was a coincidence. Van Gaal was forced into changes and they worked out very well for him, the jammy prick. My first post on this thread mentioned that possibility : Fazio might have been an idea against QPR too, but he didn't even make the match squad today. Chiriches can cover two positions, sort of, so I can see the logic in it. Need to bring in someone better than our starters for next season, though.
To be honest I am not too disheartened. Yes we were terrible-worst first half of the season and they played their best football of the season ,BUT we have played some good football this season and this was a lesson for what is the youngest team in the league. I am still looking forward to a bright future with this team-next season.
Well that's it then... They now have to pull their pants up., thank Man Utd for the hospitality and pray they don't get a window seat on the bus home.
It was an utter shambles. Totally inexcusable! After the first 10 mins, there was only ever going to be one winner, it was just by how many. Utd took their foot off the pedal, or it could have been worse. We couldn't have scored with 2 days extra time, let alone 2 mins!
Di Maria's absence proved to be a blessing (as predicted). The best player on the pitch was Michael Carrick. He controlled the game. It enabled other midfielders to do some running - either wide or up front to support Rooney. That's what Utd have been missing all season. Blind was great at left back too - as he is for Holland. People who say Utd aren't that great can now see that there is a lot of potential there if the team plays at the right tempo, in the right formation with the right tactics, Spurs weren't great, but It wasn't a question of being outplayed by a poor Utd team. Today Utd played like a Ferguson team.
Jeez..... That was a disappointment!! Horrendous 1st half and a pointless 2nd. There were some dreadful performances out there, but despite the strong competition, I think Walker gets the 'Twat of the Match' award for general ****e-ness throughout the 92 minutes. Maybe Yedlin may not have been such a bad idea today after all?
Really we peaked with the Arsenal game. Since then we have been at best average , or as today awful . Season has been over since the bore fest that was the league cup. A team with a couple of good players , a lot of mediocre and a few crap justifies it's position . Same old and next season will be no different , but at least we had 2 stand out games which gave us something to cling on. A sensible Sid in the compost heap down on the farm.
Same old Spurs. I agree that the Liverpool game was pivotal. Coming off two big wins against London rivals, we were never in a better position to kick on and be a top team this year. Instead we came out and simply never looked like we would let ourselves take the lead. We can do well enough as long as we fail in the end. We can't stand prosperity. Having said that, it's still been a good season on balance. So many things have gone well. But the biggest problem remains unsolved.
