Its not that surprising is it? He came into the squad in January off the back of a full MLS season or two and a World Cup and then went off to play with the US national team and picked up an injury. As far as I'm aware he's only back training properly this last week or so, and at the tail end of the season with a lot to play for in the league it'd be a ballsy move to rotate Yedlin in for Walker considering Yedlin's lack of experience at this level and the fact that we're just getting a sense of having a settled back 4. Yedlin will get his chance of that I'm sure.
Would love you to beat United today...They've been begging for a team to really go at them for ages. If your players want this they could take a historic win...
Lloris (c), Walker, Dier, Vertonghen, Rose; Bentaleb, Mason; Chadli, Eriksen, Townsend; Kane. Subs: Vorm, Chiriches, Davies, Dembele, Lamela, Paulinho, Adebayor. Pretty much as expected for the starters, but Adebayor and Chiriches make surprise appearances on the bench.
De Gea, Valencia, Jones, Smalling, Blind, Carrick, Herrera, Mata, Fellaini, Young, Rooney. Lindegaard, Rafael, Blackett, A Pereira, Januzaj, Falcao, Wilson. Quite an attacking side from van Gaal. Blind at left-back, presumably.
Historic as in beating them by a few... --------------De gea -----Smalling----Carrick----Jones Valencia----------------------------Young -------------------Blind ---------Herrera------Fellaini -----------------Mata ----------------Rooney
We should be able to get at a defence of Valencia, Smalling, Jones and Blind. Blind has been effective for them in midfield so hopefully we will be able to make the most of Carrick and Herrera sitting in there. Mata or Fellaini out wide may play into our hands if thats where they end up as their effectiveness may be limited there. If we move the ball quickly then they don't have a whole lot of pace in the side to catch us, and if we press well then we can upset their ball players. We struggled against Liverpool at Anfield when they used a system with basically a back 3 so I'm sort of glad we're playing a somewhat makeshift back 4.
We really need a win if we are to have a shout of top four but i expect them to play a hell of a lot better than they did in the fa cup on monday. How we deal with fellani (or dont) will decide the match in my opinion. We must win the second ball or he will create untold chances for rooney and mata
How the hell has Fellani run in behind our defence, he's slower than my nan, that was dreadful. We look miles off the pace. Were just hitting long balls up to Kane and smalling is winning everything. We need to play this game down the wings and expose there lack of pace.
