That fact that Shaun Phillips has 36 Caps ties into my point. Using England caps as a barometer of how good a player is is just plain daft in this day and age. (No disrespect to the national team by the way, its just the harsh reality)

Phillips' improved form has been about the only real positive since Ramsey took over, too many changes to allow a settled pattern to emerge...

M Phillips playing in his proper position is a fantastic player, I can't remember too many people complaining when we paid 5 million for him. I think he prefers to play through the middle.
As soon as Phillips hit that fantastic goal I knew what was coming on here. It was a once in a lifetime hit that usually end up in row Z. A fantastic goal of the season. However, he hasn't suddenly become a fantastic player. He's got a great shot and is powerful. He should play through the middle or as part of a three behind the forward. A winger he ain't. He can still get in a position to cross the ball playing in a three. He has a poor first touch and takes time to get going to use his pace. He doesn't work back well so shouldn't play as a wide man in a 4-4-2 imo.
Only a great save prevented him from scoring another fantastic goal in the game. Although he has been out of favour under Arry and lost confidence with him in charge. He still tops our assist figures this season. I think he will only improve.
