Stupid to get sent off like that. It was soft but good forward play by Vardy and we all know he throws himself to the floor. His first foul was a yellow. Thought he was doing ok but he just wont take a game by the scruff of the neck. He has the ability but not the resolve. Too many times he could hold it and hold his man off and draw players to slot a ball through. But he knocks it off far too many times. Is it a one game ban?
It's a 2 game ban. Both yellows were soft but certainly should have used his brain and not put himself in the position for the Leicester player to dive over his leg and get the second yellow. Think he's been much better again recently and if either Elmo or Jela had found the back of the net when they should he would have played a brilliant defence splitting ball to win us the game.
I thought he had an excellent game. Always had the ball. Always showing a touch of class; his chipped ball in to Elmo for Jelly's golden chance was sublime. How often do you see players coming up with moments of individual magic like that these days? And while we're on the subject of boo-boy targets, I also thought Jake had a good game. He's big, strong and mobile, with a fantastic engine, and he made life unpleasant for their midfielders today.
Agreed, mostly. But his passing needs some work - many times, after putting himself on the line, winning the ball, he then wastes his pass.
I'm sorry, but missing six games of the season is unacceptable. He's a key player and one of our best paid player, who's going to miss a huge chunk of this season down to his own rashness/stupidity. Bitterly disappointing as he was starting to look himself again, but personally I think he should be fined by the club. He won't be as they won't want to upset him, but his lack of discipline could get us relegated.
Indeed, but most players have their weaknesses exposed at this level, and in Jake's case his weakness is sometimes his retention of the ball and passing. If this wasn't a weakness he would probably have commanded even more than 8 million quid. In fact, without this weakness he would probably be playing for a top side, and would never have been a Hull City player. I think it's important that we see the bigger picture when we point out some of our players' shortcomings.
I've not seen it on TV yet but we cheered for the second yellow because we thought that diving **** had been carded. I though Huddz needed to come off ten mins before that. Bruce Jnr was again great. Anyone else would have stayed down with the head knock but he was up on his feet. A Leicester player woulda been waiting for a medivac ffs.
Said on 'umberside that they'd just had it confirmed - 2 game ban (Bruce had actually said he thought it was one in the post match interview).
Stupid fouls to give away. But he tends to give daft fouls away. Bruce Jnr's & Dawson's challenges were legit. Jnr's was a quality tackle. Dunno what the **** the ref was watxhing.
Didn't see Daws' but Bruce's was more than legit, it was a ****ing belting tackle. Not too dissimilar to the excellent tackle he was booked for against Chelsea.
Bookings and sending offs in the game today are sometimes pathetic when you make a challenge sometimes you will catch a player but unless its intentional then should it be a yellow card. Bruce and Dawson should never have had a yellow and Huddlestone did catch there player but was it really intentional or just touching the lads leg. Hudds was having a good game up to then, mind you all this diving and rolling around doesn't help. Its supposed to be a contact sport, Chelsea next week now they are the masters
The turning point in this game seemed to be those two weak bookings. It's not been a contact sport for a while, I've said this for ages. The referees are the stars and it's all about getting players sent off and getting penalties. Losing Diame would have been a bigger part in us getting relegated.
Might I humbly suggest that having as a weakness retention of the ball and passing is quite significant for a Premier League footballer. Plus an inability to get more than about 2 goals a season from midfield. He was better today but overall is a very lucky boy to have played so many games this season. He and Hudds owe us a lot before the end of the season, especially as they continue to be inked in when available.
Boils my piss when I think back to Sunderland who did their best to get someone sent off but finished the game with 11 men, next game Huddlestone gets sent off without going to ground once all game. We must have got 5 yellows today and there wasn't a bad tackle in the game.
Yes it is quite significant, but please remember that I was speaking in relative terms when discussing his weaknesses.
A red from two bookings used to mean a two-match ban, but it was changed to one a few years back (maybe a couple of years, maybe more). But Thudd gets two matches as it's his second red.
