<peacedove>Whether we make the top four or not we must start next season strongly. The reason
we are not higher in the league is our poor start in the 2014/2015 season.
Buying too many players can also have adverse effect, especially it takes time for them gel.
I have my reservations about the following players.
    1.Brad Jones
    2.Glen Johnson
    3.José Enrique
    4.Dejan Lovren
    5. Kolo Toure
    6.Fabio Borini
    7.Mario Balotelli

I would also like to add Lambert and Joe Allen to that list

    Borini, Lambert, Coates, Ilori

release Johnson and Gerrard and possibly Toure.

No no point selling Jones we'll get about 100k for him and still have to replace... Might as well just keep him.

abd Balotelli if can get anything over £10m

Lambert isn't worth a penny and Allen is doing well lately.

  9. Surprised so many are saying we should get rid of Toure. He's a solid fourth choice option that offers experience to the younger players and is a calming influence in the changing room. Who we going to get to replace him without having to cough up? We're not going to get a penny if/when he leaves.

I don't think he is. He had a decent game against Man City, kept the ball without actually contributing anything to the game going forward or defensively. Every other game he has just been a passenger. I'd like us to sign a decent defensive midfielder in the summer and I don't think that leaves room for Lucas and Allen. I'm not a huge Lucas fan but he offers a lot more to the team than Allen

Blackburn showed what happens without Allen. He never gives the ball away and he keeps it moving. He's also possibly our best player at drawing bookings from opponents which makes them have to think twice about everything.

  12. Allen has one world class attribute which also happens to be the key attribute to how we key too; pressing!

The reason we failed so miserably at the start of the season wasn't because of so many new signings, but the same reason we've failed in the first half of the previous two season too - Rodgers' insistence in going to his death by passing football without pressing, intensity or counter attack. New players usually take time to settle in, sure, but plenty of players equally come in to new clubs and hit the ground running. Maybe it's our dire season starting tactics which prevents players picking up form when they come in?

1.Brad Jones - why sell? We'd get barely anything, he's done ok when he's played and Mignolet is rarely injured anyway. No point selling only to spend much more on a replacement who'll sit there doing nothing.
2.Glen Johnson - off to Roma on a free. Can't wait.
3.José Enrique - Solid backup to Moreno. Again, would have to spend far more to buy a decent backup.
4.Dejan Lovren - Could still come good.
    5. Kolo Toure - Solid and cheap backup. No value in selling.
6.Fabio Borini - Doesn't look like he'll ever get games because he never gets a chance at a decent run. Might as well sell and buy someone Rodgers likes to be a rotation striker rather than a backup striker.
7.Mario Balotelli - Sell sell sell.

Totally agree with this. What I dont get is why we signed Borini in the first place. It was Rodgers first signing but he has completely ostracised him.

Borini was someone who was useful in being able to immediately take on Brendan's ideas and help us move forward. Now we have improved past him but he still served a purpose at the start.

Slight exaggeration, I wouldn't call his pressing world class, in fact I'd say his closing down is barely noticeable compared to Henderson and Lucas when he was in the team prior to his injury. Sorry, I'd love him to prove me wrong as a Liverpool fan and a welshman but I've seen him play so many times for Wales, Liverpool and Swansea too and I've never seen anything above average.

I think Allen is a decent squad player and I'm a big Lucas fan so we are the opposite on this.

  19. Brod didn't get a chance to access the squad we had before signing Borini because of the Euros and Olympics in the summer of 2012. I'm convinced Brod underestimated the quality of what we already had and/or needed.
