there's a thread going bat-sh*t crazy about Defoe & Hutton being up there at the present.

Anyone else heard anything about this?

this is from earlier today, apparently the two of them and N'Zog up at Seaham (?) thought it was baa-baa, but can only get on here not on SSN while at work so wanted to check.

Not that I'd mind them having the 'white cafu' as he is def surplus to requirements...

Strong rumours in Sunderland that Defoe is up negotiating contract details and is stopping over to arrange his medical. Defoe is 4/7 with Sky Bet to join Sunderland so is looking likely.

    Obviously hope its not true!

Has anybody else read or heard this

if we sell Defoe next week, expect NEW STRIKER to sign the following week. My money's on Forlan but a mate spoke to me earlier today convinced we were getting Osvaldo, I haven't seen any stories on him for awhile so I'm not sure we he got that from.

If Sunderland buy Defoe, it should mean that we will actually buy a new striker at last.

I didn't think this day would come. I'm so happy.

    alright chaps

the lad who posted the rumours has been on here and the bbc site for the last few years and has never been one to talk rubbish in my time on both sites

apparently its Gyan for Hutton and Defoe and that we are signing N'Zogbia from Wigan

I love Gyan and would be gutted but I think how you lot play with VDV behind the striker he would fit in perfectly.

    Hope its true

Thanks, that pretty much confirms it as just rumour, there's no way that deal would be sanctioned (and as I've read on here many, many times, the media loves to report swapsies as parts of deals but they almost never happen!)

Still, at least you get to keep Gyan so you've got to be happy about that

I heard it's going to be a 5 for 5 swap deal involving Defoe, Bentley Hutton, Modric and Garth Crooks for Richardson, Zenden, Kenwyne Jones and Niall Quinn.

Well to be honest Defoe has been misfiring all season and offers nothing upfront in recent years, If it means getting rid and buying someone in the class of Rossi then i'm all up for it

Defoe off, Rossi (or Llorente, or even Osvaldo) in I can understand, Defoe off Forlan in, that just confuses me

Forlan > Defoe. What is confusing about selling a player and bringing in someone better?

Personally I'd rather sell Keane & Crouch than Defoe but Forlan would be ideal for us.

Becuase if we're going to sell Defoe, then lets replace him with someone who at least has a modicum of his best attribute. PACE.

If we lose him, replace him with Forlan and thats the shake up our front line for next season, we might as well plan for losing Modders, Bale, VDV and Sandro now.

exactly Croatia..when Defoe was firing blanks then everyone wanted rid..now its a possibilty and everyone wants him to stay....for us it is about next season...it is about top 4...and if forlan is going to get us goals then so be it...i think we should try to sign Klose and get rid of Crouch<ok>

Defoe to Sunderland,oh well let's alert Villa fans. It's time he went somewhere and Sunderland sounds good. He would never make it at Arsenal and I say goodbye asap.
