It's not that the games are boring, it's the fact that it takes me 3 hours to watch an hour long game thanks to the advertising. The only reason why they now do mandatory touchdown reviews is to add another commercial break. Being a green bay fan I suppose I haven't had it as bad. I do think the league is headed for real trouble with the brain injury issues. It's a big deal and the extreme size and speed of athletes now is worrying.

I predicted that football was in danger of being taken away from the " fans " when the newsagent on Percy Street stopped selling Park Drive untipped in packets of 5.

I love the NFL, got my season ticket for 2015. Some tasty looking fixtures given the free agency deals of the past couple of weeks. Far more entertaining than following NUFC presently...

People fall in and out love with football all the time.
There will be high and lows depending who you're a fan of.
NUFC fans are not unique in this regard.
Luck of the draw I'm afraid, a bit like the Post Code Lottery.

If people want to be entertained go to a 'live gig' or something.
    Maybe football isn't for you.

Personally, I still like the PL, and will watch plenty of it, mainly as I have an interest in a number of Fantasy Leagues, playing for decent money.
    Also will watch Championship etc.

    Even though it doesnt rhyme
    Your sentiments are just fine
I cant get enough of the game
But watching NUFC now is so tame
Our lack of investment in playing staff
Is Mike Ashley having a laugh?

If we had been in danger if going down
He would have really gone to town
But instead of trying to push for top spot
He's just happy to get his share of the Premier League pot

So we have to wait and hope he has had enough
And we get a rich Arab owner who wants to win stuff
But until then i will continue to follow the Toon
And just hope that one of young centre halves comes through to replace Williamson soon.

    Yeah good post
That's the good thing about the NFL all of a sudden a team that where crap not long ago
(Detroit Lions ) can suddenly mount a challenge
At least there's a good chance that at least a dozen teams can have a chance at the Superbowl

Watching paint dry is more entertaining than watching Newcastle at the moment but holding up American Football as an improvement on English Football is not something I would do. I find it one of the most boring sports to watch live and most of the American crowd seem to as well, with most spending more time at the food stands under the stadium. The action is all crammed into short bursts separated by endless discussions, huddles and time outs - it makes cricket seem exciting. It might seem exciting on the telly but that's only because you forget that the crowd is sat there with only the cheerleaders to entertain them while you are watching the adverts.
I would agree that the Premier League is by no means the best league in the world but it is certainly the best marketed. The interest in the Premier League here in Asia is massive and Saturday nights in pubs are dominated by the Premier League games.
The amount of money available now has certainly distorted the competition creating a massive fight to get into the Premier League and then a pool of teams accepting that they are never going to win it and just content to rake in the money and stay put. Unfortunately if any of these teams with more limited resources start to escape from this pool their better players get snapped up by the so called bigger teams and they then have to rebuild. Maybe the poor performances in Europe by English teams this year will benefit the competition in the Premier League because it will mean less money for the four entrants and so even the playing field for next year.
However it will always come down to how much of the revenue the owner(s) are willing to plough back into the playing side (or even subsidise it from their own cash). Unfortunately we currently have an owner who will only risk investing if we are in danger of missing out.

Do any of you NFL watchers do fantasy football? Thats what makes the NFL exciting.... We play for a lot of money over here, the best part is that you can enjoy all the games so there is little downtime. NFL network redzone is the go to channel, mainly because my carrier doesn't offer the sunday ticket.

Other than the odd game, I haven't watched any NFL for donkey's years.

But, when I did watch, it was because of the Fantasy Football aspect.
I was in a mini-league for a couple of years, and was able to win a few quid along the way, before the league folded.
It's a good way of generating and staying interested.
I would probably have another go, but, I'm way off with my knowledge of the sport anymore.

Same over here with the Fantasy Football, it keeps people interested in the Premier League, especially if you're playing for money.

Fun leagues like the one on here are ok, but, there not like the real thing, with the chance of a nice earner at the end of the season.
Best for me are the Telegraph and Sun Dream Team.

This is very very weird! Usually no one north of Southampton has heard of our little fishing village! My sister in law is also with a Geordie. He has just moved down here. The mudeford mags!

The first thing I've done every August for the last few years was subscribe to the NFL Gamepass that we get over here with access to every single game unless it's one of the 2 televised games on Sky. Absolutely love it! Although I actually think the biggest thing that keeps the NFL competitive year on year is the salary cap... Look at some of the players that have to be let go in between every season (Suh, Revis, Murray so far this off-season; we got Ware and Talib last season) and then the way that franchises have to manage their cap situations.

Unfortunately the BPL, FA and football in general is run using a completely different business model (AKA each club does whatever the frick it wants) so there isn't any chance of this ever happening over here...

Yeah the salary cap is very nice. I'm a Packers fan so we are well under the cap every season being the only publicly owned team, but we draft and manage well. I think the dolphins will be a force this season. Just out of curiosity how much is your NFL gamepass? Its 350 USD here in addition to having to get a satellite dish. On the flip side every BPL game the entire season only costs me 45 dollars. I wish they would impose a cap, or actually enforce FFP rules. Teams in germany somehow get great players for cheap, not that they have a cap but they are all managed responsibly. Example: Sidney sam cost schalke 5m euros, Riviere cost us 6m pounds.
