66 consecutive appearances in the PL for us, 84 consecutive appearances in the league for us - including Championship - in a season where we've had so many unlucky injuries. It really needs to be said just how amazing this record is.

Jon Walters (102), Matt Holland (118) and Frank Lampard (164) all have over 100 consecutive appearances as outfield players, I wonder if Elmo will join them?

Has he ever missed a league game for us when he's been available to play?

I sometimes think Elmo is massively underrated. He's rarely, although not never, man of the match but he's a solid 7 in 99% of games. In that respect he is invaluable to us and probably should get higher praise than he does.

Certainly Steve Bruce's best signing for us and one of the best signings in our entire history? Oh how misplaced do those comments from Sunlan fans rejoicing and offering to drive him here themselves seem now....

The one thing that drives me nuts is he has 0 ability with his left foot. If you focus on his play, you'll see he never ever uses it.

One, I think: the New Year's Day 2013 scoreless draw at Blackpool, after he'd picked up a calf knock in the win over Leeds three days earlier.

Lots of players are like that. Not really a problem is it?

    Unless your name's Tom Cairney.

Not since Richard Jobson in 1987-8 and 1988-9 has a player been ever present for two complete consecutive seasons. Elmo is 10 games away from that record.

Even Cairney used his left occasionally. You could cut Elmo's left off and he wouldn't have any issues passing the ball. He might have some issues running mind you.

Unless he's big John Holmes, I'd have thought having no left leg could make a wee bit of difference for kicking. I could be wrong though.

I love Elmo tho have to say he does seem to go down as if he has been shot quite a lot! 2 minutes later he's haring down the wing..
Would drive me mad if he was on any other team.

He dives over the flailing legs to avoid injury, seems to work for him.

His diving & play acting is getting worse.

I wish he'd cut it out.

He should've been done for the handball incident against Newcastle. Disgraceful stuff.

Haha woops, was so focussed on talking about Elmo having no left I got mixed up. The 14 in my username is a reference to Cairney as well.... <doh>

His end product has often been less productive this season in my opinion.

Possibly because we didn't have any strikers on the pitch for many of the games.

Perhaps. I would be interested in knowing how many assists he has this season. I really feel that the final ball has been lacking from him on many occasions this season.

    Workrate, spirit, etc brilliant.
