I was watching MOTD recently and just got completely fed up with it, then I turned it off.

I have had a self-imposed ban from SJP since the end of 2010 - when Chris Hughton was sacked - but now I feel I just no longer care about any of the characters or teams within the game any more.

I will always look out for the Newcastle United score, but until there is fundamental change at the club I really can not ever see myself re-kindling my passion for a game I used to love so much.

I played at school and as an adult for sixteen years but have nothing left for the game.

Over-paid players (mainly foreign) and a blatant disregard for the fans who support the clubs have brought out a level of apathy that i'm not sure I can ever shift.

The coverage is now so cringe-worthy (especially MOTD) that I have nothing but contempt for the whole scenario.

The price of tickets is disgusting considering the amount of TV money being pumped into the game - especially in this country - and shows no sign of dropping.

Football has been eternally tainted by excessive amounts of money and it is vile to view in my opinion.

Is it just me or has anyone else just about had enough?

    You aren't alone.

I don't fall for the Premier League brand that Sky like to tout - "The Greatest League in the World". Sorry, but the PL is a pile of ****. It's boring and expensive to watch, predictable and full of overpaid prima donnas that act like fairies on the pitch. They bitch and moan about their salaries [despite earning more money in a week than most people dream of] and most of them are quite frankly horrible people. I don't bother with MOTD anymore as I couldn't give a **** about Man City, Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool and the rest of those mickey mouse clubs. I include Newcastle in that. It's no longer a football club; it's a business that doesn't give a flying **** about the fans. Newcastle United used to represent a city and the people that lived there. Not any more. I couldn't give a **** about our results any more. I don't celebrate goals, I don't applaud the players. I don't enjoy going to games any more and actually spend my time looking around the ground thinking to myself "why am I even here".

The Champions League - **** right off with that sham of a competition. There is nothing 'Champion' about it. It's about the biggest clubs in Europe coming together and playing in their own little league against each other. **** the smaller clubs. It's a case of "hey, we'll let them play us once in a while". Another case of money ruining a perfectly good competition under it's old guise.

England - They can **** off too. I haven't enjoyed an England game since France 1998. That was for me the last time when we had players that gave a **** about wearing the shirt. Wayne Rooney? **** that scouse ****. Cannot even be bothered to sing the national anthem the overpaid fat ****. They don't give a **** about the fans or the country. They are more bothered about lining their pockets.

Who do I blame? The FA and the clubs themselves. Greedy ****ing bastards. Sky are also to blame. Polluting the game with mass amounts of money in the name of 'entertainment'.

I love football and watch every game I feasibly can. If Ommsk reserves were playing Trombojn in a third division Norwegian pre season friendly, I'd look forward to it.

I don't know if I would count myself as a football fan anymore as opposed to a Newcastle United fan (plus some non league teams).

I do not watch most of the football on TV. I have no real interest in the Champions League. I am bored with so called experts trying to tell me I "want to" or "am watching" the best league in the world or footballers etc when inevitabley it's a game of chess or just plain boring or bad with players who don't have the talent to match the hype.

A big problem with football nowadays is the hype and so called experts telling me lies. I have watched football and ages ago played football enough to be able to tell a good footballer from a bad one and a good game from a bad one.

I haven't lost my love for the game as opposed to the Premier League and European football (except when Newcastle are involved) but I can totally understand those who have. To get your love back I would suggest watching local non league teams where it isn't over hyped and the players rarely act like prima donnas and you can get some really good/exciting games.

For me, it's down to money and - ultimately - just over-exposure. I'm sure we've discussed it before, complete with the splendid Mitchell & Webb parody.

I've got seriously fed up with premier league football and there is certainly no enjoyment in supporting NUFC right now. This season has been a total borefest. I still enjoy watching European games and also have watched some of the European leagues more this year. German football is a particually good watch. I live in Bournemouth and the most fun I have had this year is getting down to see the cherries when possible. Great team to watch. Goals galore!

Yes, our friends have a holiday home there and we've been a few times. Lovely area. We walked into Christchurch, although the weather was crap so they weren't running the ferries from Mudeford Quay across to the stanpit beach and Hengitsbury Head this time. Next time I'm down I'll buy you a beer.

I feel the same way about the NFL to be honest. I haven't been around long enough to see the highs of the BPL. The only way I can relate is the lack of goals. some games have zero excitement. Taking a look over in the bundisliga, teams like leverkusen are great to watch, dont spend much money, keep ticket prices down. IE. money not ruining the game.

For all I said above, I'm planning to go to more Berwick games next season. They may be crap and play in the bottom tier of Scottish football, but it's proper football. No hype, no money and players playing the game because they enjoy it irrespective of the result.

    I share your pain Joker.
I have an empty feeling these days and need a holiday to recharge my batteries.
I'll be different at the beginning of August as I'll be full of hope... only to have it cruelly dashed by Fatmike and Robbin.

Wow really, the one difference I find is that there is ALWAYS hope for Nfl teams, even for the s*** teams. I'm a suffering Dolphins fan, but at least I know we could easily turn a corner and became potential championship contenders quite quickly. But I also just find the general competitiveness exciting. The premier league bores me so much though that I genuinely don't give a flying **** about what anyone is doing except Newcastle. Even then, I can't stress the contrast in enthusiasm that I used to have to now. Sometime I even forget when they're playing, I'm that far from being bothered about caring. Thanks a bunch fat Mike.

At least with the NFL the draft system allows the crap teams to improve in theory. The PL on the other hand is a lost cause. The rich get richer and the rest...**** them. It's just another lopsided league like the rest of Europe. I'd compare it to the Portuguese League....2 or 3 teams akin to Porto, Benfica and Sporting that win everything.

I've said this for a number of years now. I agree with Kick His Ass Seabass, I enjoy watching German football a lot more. Just better quality, better atmosphere etc. The Championship this year is very competitive. Some good football getting played too.

The whole PL and Sky debacle lost me a fair few years back. Throw in how the money flowing into the game is distributed, the foreign ownership malarkey and its all just not for me. We've lost all sense of identity, and people are being brainwashed to believe the product is matching the hype. It doesn't and we're being ripped off for the privilege.

Agree with this. The Premier League is not what Sky claim it to be; the best league in the world. It's not even close. La Liga isn't either. For me the Bundesliga takes that crown. The football is competitive, exciting and the atmosphere at grounds is superb. The Germans at least care about the average fan. Ticket prices put PL clubs to shame. The PL is a money league dominated by foreign owners looking for a toy to play with. The other week you had Gary Neville disrespecting Monaco after they beat Arsenal just because they play in the French league. How dare they beat a PL side. Arsenal are superb week in week out and so the PL must be stronger. What a load of bollocks.
