He's been around the 1st team already this season he's in goal for the shooting warm up on match days though they hardly hit the target! He was on the bench at Newcastle away where Curtis Davies posted his initiation song! he's a very good prospect..
It is but still better than playing u21s Vs Gateshead ect.. It's playing in games that need to be won. Sam Topliss had a bit of mare for Ferriby in the semi final.. A big game and a few fans in something difficult to replicate no doubt he ll be better for the experience though.
For a keeper it's not a bad thing to have a spell in lower leagues. A **** defence will mean he'll face more shots, and the general roughness will mean he'll get used to people shoving him around during corners/crosses etc.
Plus, it's better for him to go there and play every game than be sat on the bench for a league 1 club
It's a little different for keeper, I don't think there's any issue with him playing at a lower level, it's still good experience.
I think there's a big difference between Grimsby and Gainsborough though. They're mostly part time at Conference North level.
A lot of the clubs are part time, but at that age (as somebody mentioned) he wants to be getting to grips with senior football and it's a good league (I've played in it, well the Conference South anyway), with clubs like Stockport, Harrogate and Tamworth in there, all good clubs. Gainsborough are one of the smaller clubs in that league, so going to places like York Street, Edgeley Park and Aggbrough will be good experience for him.
