Not so long ago I remember another team slidding down the league pole and lets face it, it could happen again and especially when the big boys get fed up with the little would be types and trot off and join the European Super League leaving only scraps on the table. All the would be rich owners who own these little would be types might just get a bit fed up funding it when the set up is no longer elite and there is no kudos in it for them. How does that old song go.....We'll meet again don't know where don't know when but I know we'll meet again some sunny day.........
Blimey Greeny I know like all city's there are depressing places to live but try not to let it effect your personality.
I'm getting a bit lost with this one - so you don't aspire to leave League 2 - promotion is something the furthest from your ambitions for your club or would you be happy to get to the Championship and hang around there - tell you what although there are things that are a lot better in the lower leagues I'm sure the majority of Pompey supporters would love to be back in the Premiership with all its faults. It is what it is.
Honest answer. I used to dream of my club getting to what was the promised land even if it was just once in my lifetime. We've "nearly" been there a few times in my long history but it just hasn't come off. Not long ago I would have bitten your hand off for a chance but not anymore. Money. foreign owners and TV have ruined the premier league in this country. I would rather be in the lower leagues with a bit of competition about it and happier times than be in the current premier league. The top league in this country used to give most clubs a chance but not anymore. The league has become like most leagues throughout the World which is sterile where only a couple of teams at best can do anything or qualify for the European competition at the end of it. The same teams get into the Champions League year on year. The rest like yourselves feed on scraps. There will become a time when all of these clubs break away and for a European League and leave the rest for dead. The rest of it I've said as above so won't repeat it. One thing the lower leagues don't create is plastic fans and any banter you have are with real supporters always. Games are quite even and anyone of the teams can win their respective league. It's actually nicer down here.
Tbh, I'd rather be in the Championship than League 2, but I'd be perfectly happy with the Championship.
I did'nt discount being in the Championship because up to that point there is the competition. It is the premiership I despise for what it's become.
What's the latest wheeze from them now? Oh yeah, they'd like the FL to agree to 16 of their A cat academies to be able to enter the JPT competition. Their back-door way to get the B teams in now they've been told to take a hike? Finding their little exclusive club too limiting now maybe?
What do you mean I started it Channon? I merely stated that I thought you should amend the typo on your profile, so that it read more correctly, namely' Local lad, born and inbred'
The thing about slides is they are a slippery slope and once you get on it sort of adopts a mind of it's own and it's bleddy hard to get off again. You find you can slide without even playing sometimes. Whoops!!!!
Even expectations slide it seems......not sure settling for 7th will end it either. Plenty of points to lose still.
I think you'll find that they are both the same amount lambayama. Watch out watch out there's a Stokie about.
I don't think my life as a Saints supporter will ever be the same, not only down to 7th in the Premier league but getting mocked by the mighty high flying Portsmouth and Plymouth fans lol
