Warning: Gambling can seriously damage your wealth. http://www.cheltenham-festival.co.uk/ Tips: I'm no expert but here we go... Champion Hurdle - Faugheen (Ruby Walsh chose this over Hurricane Fly) Queen Mother Chase - Sprinter Sacre (nailed on if fully fit) Gold Cup - Silviniaco Conti (favourite but owners unsure if suited to Cheltenham so tread carefully) When the fun stops, stop.
Bookmarked Cheltenham is the best meet on the calendar, and one of the hardest places to find winners.
I'll be backing those three, add in douvan on the first day as well which sounds like it can't lose. The new one will threaten if it's within reach going over the final fence. I've booked Tuesday off work to watch the opening day
I would be getting involved, but I'm going to be spending my cash going out round Manchester tomorrow night, off to watch Noel Gallagher anarl. I actually completely forgot Cheltenham was even on.
Anyone going to cheltenham that needs a bed for wednesday night Thursday and Friday night, we've had 2 drop out of our trip so there's a couple of beds going
****inell I really hate horse racing. I don't even think it should be classed as a proper, major, sport, cos it only really exists for the benefit of gamblers. Admit it; if there was no betting, would you even be interested? Now, just give me a few minutes while I get out of range...
Simple solution is not to watch it. It's very rare that it ever gets more than a passing mention on any sort of main stream media anyway. It's only over the last 5 or 6 months that I've got into racing, and if I'm not doing anything else I like sitting on a Saturday afternoon watching the horses even if I don't have any bets on.
A day(or night) at the races is a great laugh, though I don't see the appeal of watching it on telly.
Well, obviously, I don't! I reserve the right to whinge about it, though! You've got to be kidding! You can't move for page after page of it in the papers!
I mostly agree with you there except I believe it's done for the benefit of the bookies and horse owners,.
Well, I mean from a spectating point of view; people watching it. They watch it mostly because of the betting.
I quite enjoy a flutter on the gee gees. I wish I could remember who to give them due credit, but I'm sure it was someone on here that described it as watching midgets trying to pull the heads off horses.
Theres no feeling like it. Been in the bookies watching your horse come in or at the races. Used to spend whole afternoons in there losing loads and winning it back on the last race a claiming stakes at some ****hole of a course, ****ing hell what a high. Thinking about it now, how weird is it we used to be in the bookies listening to races!!! With a tally man at the front writing up all the results!! kinell If it hadnt of been for that **** Greville Starkey life would have been a lot easier and i'd a been a lot richer. Useless twat.
Ah Cheltenham start tomorrow! That explains why I couldn't find a hotel to stay in last night for the meeting I had near Cheltenham this morning! I hope the weather gets a bit better for them it was miserable this morning....
I read that this Faugheen has never really taken on the best so maybe Hurricane Fly is good value, not followed the racing much recently but when it comes to Cheltenham course form and proven class is worth a lot
I thin faugheen will win the race but i like the look of the new one, absolutely flies over the last couple.
Agreed. Experts seem to think Faugheen is too short a price. As good as he is, Hurricane Fly is 11yo now so I would expect a younger horse to beat it.
