Game over. Desperate end to the game, after playing well for most of the second half. Nice to get the win, but there were some tired looking performances, especially at the back. A Scouser moaning about refereeing decisions is like a Nazi moaning about war crimes. Give it a rest.
Would feel cheated if i were them...the ref cn be blamed for not getting the handball wrong and possibly the 1st appeal and gutted at the bad luck of hitting woodwork twice. Great win for us though up to 6th and 3 pts off top 4. Really good response from the team after a bad few days last week
please log in to view this image Hotspur Related @HotspurRelated Kane has equalled the amount of goals Bale scored (26) in his last season at Spurs with 10 games still to play. #THFC Only Messi and Ronaldo have scored more goals in all competitions this season in the top divisions, apparently.
Scrappy win but given the amount of games recently, I can accept a little tiredness. Great win though - we're still in with the pack for the top 4.
Well a win is a win. A scrappy, nail biting one at that but the three points are ours. If I had just one request for us until the end of the season and beyond, that is to just please, please develop a killer instinct. QPR should have been out of sight way back when but we got sloppy as always and gave them life. We have to learn to put games to bed earlier. On the plus side, Kane looks odds on the get 30+ goals this season. Taking into account he only just got into the PL team after a few months into the season, that's an incredible return.
If Ramsey remains as QPR manager beyond the end of the season, then it might be an idea for us to send a few loanees their way. They'll need to trim their wage bill and get rid of some of their dross (like us), so they might benefit from it as much as we could. Might depend upon which division they're in though and it's not looking great for them right now. Big game against Palace in the early Saturday kick-off next week. Tough fixture.
"If Ramsey remains as QPR manager beyond the end of the season, then it might be an idea for us to send a few loanees their way." Spurs have a good loan rapport with QPR, whoever their manager is. The difference with Ramsey is he will already have a good idea of how/what the specific development plan is for any incoming loanee.
I like more and more the way Poch handles the team during the game. The subs made sense today Dembele to bring some toughness to the midfield and Lamela freshen us a little. I was also very impressed with the way he grabbed Mason to prevent a 'situation'. He is looking more and more confident all the time. Long may it continue.
Our defending becomes complete crap when we seem to be playing well. I think that’s six straight games where we’ve conceded shortly after scoring (in the four games we did score). It looks to me like everyone but our defenders hangs around waiting for an outlet pass rather than packing the box. Walker has always had a bad back pass in him. I think Dier looks good and has played well, yet we look even shakier since he replaced Fazio. It may be easy to underestimate Fazio’s ability in the air. In any case, we just can’t seem to put teams away. I wish announcers would watch our games occasionally. They inevitably start talking about how we’re safe the moment before we aren’t. We’re never safe, guys. It’s very simple. On the other hand: we’re the top scorers in the Prem in 2015. We score them and we give them up, which is far better than doing neither, I believe as a Spurs fan. While sorting out our defending would certainly be nice, I also think Pochettino deserves credit for how he’s handling this team. He may have eked out a win today not so much by who he subbed as when. He picked the two moments I was sure QPR was going to score, I thought. I really hope you stay up! You played well but couldn’t catch a break from the officials or the woodwork. The only question was whether you deserved a draw or a win. The last time Spurs got points they didn’t deserve I said so, and I’ll say it again today. QPR certainly deserved the first pen. The Bentaleb call is difficult because he’s in the process of getting a serious knee to the ribs. Mason possibly should have been awarded a pen as well, but it looks to me like the foul began outside the box. The thing about that first pen is that it’s a tough one to spot in real time. Award that one, and there’s about a dozen we should have been awarded and weren’t (and quite a few we should have given up and didn’t.) We should have had two against Man U alone which were much clearer than that one.
Just back from the game and I am sorry to say, Caulker looks a shadow of the player he once was. His confidence looks shot to pieces and he seems error prone on a regular basis. There are mitigating circumstances in that Ferdinand alongside him was woeful today and their DM's are also equally weak, but it doesn't change that he is on the downwards. Shame because he looked such a terrific prospect not so long ago.
Good win today for you but what fec*in annoys me is that despite a 2-1 win with 2 Kane goals staring me in the face when I looked to predict this game, I went for 1-1 because I thought QPR won't lose at home twice in one week and I'll benefit from going against the run of other predictions. Why do Spurs always let me down like this? I predict you'll get stuffed next week though.
Managed to get a ticket through a friend's cousin for today, so a rare away day for me and my first trip to Loftus Road since I was 8 or 9, I think. Thought the away fans were excellent throughout and whilst it wasn't exactly easy on the nerves, it was an enjoyable match. Good win, in the circumstances. It really was an awful pitch to play on and QPR were set up to play the ball in the air more and on their small pitch it's difficult to use your pace. First half I thought we were poor and should really have gone behind but luckily Lloris saved the day when Walker played in Austin and Austin hit the bar when he really had to score with a later chance. After that, we calmed down a bit, got ourselves infront and started creating a lot of good chances. Once again we were in a comfortable position but made life harder for ourselves by conceding a stupid goal and letting them build momentum in the game. Still, overall I'm pleased with the performance, we always find it difficult at Loftus Road and so do lots of other sides, it was a potential banana skin avoided for us. Haven't seen the penalty shouts on the replays but they seemed to be appealing everytime they got into the box. We had a decent one too Eriksen(or Mason) looked like he'd been taken down by a clumsy challenge and Henry's challenge on Mason looked nasty from where I was too. Then again I was expecting the linesman to put his flag up for both our goals so what do I know? There was definitely a lot of soft fouls given to both sides and one bizarre moment where the QPR player gave Davies the ball as it went out off him and the ref went and gave it to them anyway.
