Barcelona Transfer News: Jordan Henderson Rumours Threaten to Derail Liverpool please log in to view this image In one of the more surprising transfer rumours in recent memory, Liverpool midfield runner Jordan Henderson is drawing interest from Barcelona. Actually, the word surprising is an understatement. But according to Metro (h/t Mirror reporter James Whaling), the Catalan giants are becoming increasingly enamoured with Henderson's performances. Apparently, Barca are considering making a move to sign Henderson for free in January 2016. Barca want to move early due to Henderson's current Liverpool contract running out in 18 months' time. The Reds will likely try to secure fresh terms this summer. That would fit with what the club is allowed to do on the market under the conditions of its FIFA-imposed transfer ban, per ESPN FC: While Whaling credits "paper talk" as the essence of this shock rumour, he does also note the presence of Barcelona scouts at recent Liverpool matches. Yet Henderson is probably the least likely candidate to be catching the eye. That's not necessarily a reflection of his recent performances. Those have generally been exceptional during Liverpool's lengthy unbeaten run in 2015. But Henderson's best qualities aren't those usually associated with a Barcelona midfield target. Rather than guile, flair and technical excellence, energy and tenacity are the hallmarks of Henderson's game. The big difference is he's added more end product to his drive this season. While he was once merely a willing but rather aimless runner, Henderson is now a key part of Liverpool's attacking play. The 24-year-old has scored four times and provided seven assists this term, according to ESPN FC. He's turned the clock back to his days with Sunderland when Henderson rose to prominence as an attacking midfielder. His upturn in form is rightly winning plaudits. B/R analyst Sam Tighe recently tabbed Henderson as a future Liverpool captain and named him a key figure for manager Brendan Rodgers beyond this season: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...edium=newsletter&utm_campaign=transfer-window
Hendo was getting lambasted by most fans at the time! I must point out that I've backed him to come good the entire time, liking him to Lucas.
For me I always rated Henderson, you can check my previous posts to make that a FACKT. From day one he he worked his socks off (in training, often staying behind for extra training - even when told not too!!). He's progressed so far in such a short period of time its quite scary. No wonder the likes of Europe's elite teams are sniffing about (if you believe the rags). He's quality and probably our most vital player in the grand scheme of things...Neck and neck with Cortina imo. With SaS coming a very close 3rd and fourth. If you think how many young (ish) English Players we have in our squad, it bodes well for thee future of England. With the likes of Ibe breaking through (once back from injury), add Lallana to that list and we've pretty much got the England midfield and attack sorted bring on the 2018 WC = one badger for ech player that could be first team players for England by then. To sell HENDO - I'd want nothing less than 50mil
