Just popped over to see the binmen and they're complaining about us banning some of them.
Anyway I happen to like exchanging banter and insults with them (especially after yet another derby win), so can I request that the ban be lifted otherwise I'll have to keep slumming it over there if I want to pisstake <laugh>

Who has been banned? Can't see the need for banning people unless they say something that clearly can't be tolerated. What was said to warrant bans? I just ignore the two pillocks who disrupt every bloody thread on here - makes life easier.

It seems Warky and Guru are no longer welcome for some reason

Right. Well as I have them on ignore I have no idea what they've said to warrant a ban.

Well according to my creepy stalker on the Binners board, it was me that got the ban!

Not exactly sure what I did, but you have been warned... Don't cross me

I'm not a fan of the "ignore" concept. It's much easier said than done. I don't have any real problem with any of the Binners posting on here, although recently some of them have become a bit abusive. I just wish they wouldn't "disrupt every bloody thread" as Supers so aptly puts it. If a temporary ban and a cool down means they will moderate their abuse of this board, then it will be a good thing.

Unfortunately, I don't see it. As with when Dave banned them previously, there will be the usual screeches of "it's a free country" and "I'm the victim, it's not my fault". There'll probably be a massive campaign against our mods again for "heavy handedness". They will then promptly revert to incessant wumming which is neither clever nor amusing. The really frustrating thing is that when, e.g., JWM is not over-excited he can actually make some very interesting contributions. I think they massively need to calm down and accept that the reason posters get annoyed with them which culminates in bans is because their behaviour steps over the line and chases away valuable Norwich posters.

As I said to them recently, I enjoy "banter" with the Ipswich boys. But "banter" is a two-way street, they have to accept it will be dished out if they are dishing it out. It can't just be single-track abuse of Norwich, Norwich fans and posters on this board.

They have to understand that by taking over every single thread with tripe, they are not exercising their right to free speech on this board, they are abusing the purpose of this board. So I don't know exactly why they've been banned as there's nothing in the banning thread about it. But as long as it's temporary and they appreciate what it is not acceptable (assuming people agree with me) I can understand why they are being given a period to cool off.

I appreciate that in the post above I am speaking for all Norwich posters, which might not be fair. But I have seen a number of posts from various Norwich fans on this board saying things like "have I come on the wrong board?" So I am assuming that it is not just me that finds it irritating <ok>

It's all fine if it's in moderation. And that, I'm guessing, is the purpose of the moderators. So unless I hear otherwise than what I have seen I support the moderators' decision.

Talk about deja vu, when several Norwich posters asked me to ban Guru a year or so back, I banned him from our board only and suffered a backlash from several Canaries saying I shouldn't have banned him!

Just lately the two usual suspects have infested and derailed almost every thread on our board, with JWM in particular descending into vile personal abuse on several occasions! The matter was brought to our attention, and after a group discussion it was agreed, by a majority decision, to ban them for three weeks to mull over their behaviour, and if it continued on their return, the ban would be made permanent!

Lo and behold, we immediately get Canaries complaining with no support from those that requested it, sorry Rob, I understand you have spoken in our favour, even though you were not one of those requesting the ban!

    I'm speechless!

I used to be the Chair of our local Parish Council Dave and I empathise with you. When you work with the public you cannot ever win and it is a largely thankless experience.

I just can't see the point in banning anyone Dave unless they are are serious WUM and trouble maker like WLOH or Unbelievable Anfield. It's gonna be a pain in the arse having to keep going on the Ipshitch Towan board to lock horns with Warky & Co. <laugh>

I have to say Supers, you and carrabuh are very capable of taking lots of **** without rising to it, but it does affect a lot of posters, if only they could show some support!

Thank you Rob for your post, it really is much appreciated! <ok>

You won't hear any complaint from me Dave, only perhaps that it has taken so long!

Absolutely the right decision, ridiculous (sad, pathetic - choose you own word) that every single thread on here nowadays gets littered with their rubbish, with less than 10% of it actually adding to intelligent debate. They are clearly only on here for the wind up, and I agree that the ignore button doesn't really work so for me this is almost the perfect solution.

Well done mods, this is great news <applause>

Not sure how much my opinion counts for on here being a very occasional poster but long time lurker, but i'm fully in support of the ban. Infact I've thought about posting before asking if we could at the very least contain them to one thread on the board so they don't go and ruin all others. It's become incredibly irritating wading through their crap when i'm trying to read NORWICH opinions. So CD you have a supporter here!

I reckon they were wums 95% of the time. The other 5% they were good eggs but that's a hell of a lot of wumming

Dave, I think you should also calm down a little mate. There is always going to be some opposition to banning, a moderator is always in between a rock and a hard place in that regard. Plenty have spoken out in support and you can see plenty have voted so I don't think you have any reason to be annoyed about how Norwich posters have responded <ok>

Thanks for the explanation though, I can see where KIO is coming from (and I've no doubt he understands where posters like me are coming from) and hopefully on the basis that it is a temporary ban and they have been given clear reasons for why they have been banned at what they need to do to moderate their posting, which I would hope Norwich fans appreciate.

EDIT: not meaning to sound like I'm singling out KIO here, sorry mate, just as an example!

I do think that as a condition of their unbanning in three weeks, they should not be allowed to mention their banning at all. No complaints, no "I'm the victim it's not my fault".

Otherwise there will be endless moaning about this. The decision has been made, it's final, it won't be undone, let's all drop it. <ok>

My first ever post on here, but I have been a daily "lurker " this season.
It has got to be said that the total infestation of almost all threads by the two that have been banned was just about reached the limit I was prepared to suffer. As for the insults and language used, particularly from JWM is unacceptable.
CD you have my support, as this is my first post on here I think the displays the level of that support.
