How different would ACDC be today if Bon Scott hadn't died and Brian Johnson hadn't taken over? Would Back In Black have happened? Would we have had classic songs like Thuderstruck? Mmmmm I wonder
Well no! Or put it better we will never know. I saw them last year which may not have happened had he lived.
Plenty of people on here who are up their own arses. Hendrix was a figurehead, no more, no less. He could not even play classical guitar which is far more challenging than getting up on stage and banging out all sorts of notes in all sorts of different made up arrangements. Laziness sums up Hendrix because he was technically incompetent. Any fool could do what he did. Plays the guitar with his teeth? Yeah makes a load of noise and nothing musical about it whatsoever. Any diddy could do that. Only because he effectively topped himself when still relatively young is he so revered. Most people could not name one of his mind numbingly boring guitar noise songs. Johnny Marr was far more inspirational and innovative.
Robben ford back in the day was ****ing awesome... Matt Schofield: Andy McKee:
Johnny Marr is an absolutely top drawer player, but to say Hendrix isn't? His blues playing was first class. Classical is one discipline, very technique based but ultimately very limited in as much as you are not encouraged to be adventurous with music, rather play what is on the chart...anyone can develop technique, creativity is harder to achieve. And if anyone can get up and improvise and it's a load of **** tell that to Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, John Coltrane, Miles Davis etc...
