Good Morning Everyone, Watford came from two goals down to win a five goal thriller at Elland Road. Some will point their finger at Bamba, who had a nightmare of the game, but was he the one to blame. Losing two on the spin is nothing unusual (just ask Millwall), but the common denominator is not have Bellusci in the side! Bellusci missed the games against Brighton and Watford due to suspension. Both these games we lost! Have we missed Bullusci? Is he our best defender? Is Cooper good enough to start? Does having the Captains armband hamper Cooper's performances? Spare a thought for poor Millwall who lost again at the weekend, this time at the hands of Rotherham. They are now six points behind Rotherham, and have inferior goal difference.
Hey'up Ellandback, Bellusci and Cooper are a good pairing at back, Bamba and Bellusci looked good together but Bellusci was marshalling Bamba. Bamba gets caught out of position a lot and can lose his man occasionally. I personally think Bellusci gives both Cooper and Bamba confidence. Bamba may have had a bad game, but so did the team, the whole team threw away a 2 goal lead, and it doesn't start at the back. New players come in and play on enthusiasm and adrenalin, we saw that with Bamba. Many were classing him as our saviour, should be captain, sign him up permanent etc etc, they then saw a bad game after a mediocre game against Brighton and are now umming and rrrring. Watford had too much space and time to build an attack in midfield, not the defenders fault, they also left our mids for dead on their breaks. In our midfield we miss Bianchi, Adryan, Sloth and throw Monty in as LM or RM. We're definitely missing Antenucci in our attack, and Duke up front. Good service from the mids I mentioned and we would fire again.
We should have won after being 2-0 up. Poor shape cost us for Watford's first 2 goals, one pass to a player in-between the lines took Cook and Murphy out of the game. Which meant a centre half had to come out and face up the player and then there was space everywhere in behind. A simple tactical adjustment could have seen one of the midfield sitting in front of the defence and not leaving the space between the lines.
Morning all. Gonna be a long close season yet again with our season over in both directions. Still some of you will have the cricket and rugby to look forward to
Morning all, Bamba getting a lot of stick but from what i saw he also made some good tackles to save us. He is only remembered for his blunders though and they were bad. I agree about our midfield not helping but my main concern is Redfearn. He says he wanted the defence to push up and keep a high line WTF!!! That is what was causing the problems. Why not stay deeper and prevent the through balls being effective? Get the Ant on and let us do the counterattacking, he has a bit of pace and is our leading goal scorer. Mowatt looks totally ineffective on the left wing as well but Redfearn doesn't seem to like anyone but his acadamy kids. I expect he will blood even more if we ever reach safety.
Hey'up LIY, Redders has already hinted at bringing other academy players through to Eddy Gray. He mentioned some of'em are not that far away, especially Dawson. I got a feeling Redders is going to cause a big rift in dressing room if he's not careful........if he hasn't already.
Morning LL, fROM WHAT YOU#RE SAYING, Bellusci is Captain material... Cant believe we let a 2 goal lead slip. Unacceptable, especially at ER. wHAT HAS HAPPENED TO aNTENUCCI
I still haven't seen Dawson play for some strange reason, so can't offer an opinion on him. I've watched our DS captain, Lewie Coyle play. He's a bit of a prospect & could easily replace Wootton. He's a good defensive RB, but he's got a great engine for driving forward like Byram & Taylor, but unlike Wootton. Another CM I like is Kalvin Phillips. He's got a bit to go, but is in the all-rounder, Souness mould. Like he LB too, but can't remember his name & can't be bothered looking it up. Wasn't keen on Montenegro, btw - Walters blew him away, performance-wise.
Elland, from that angle the shot is deceptively slow. The ball was flying like stink, like any other Austin's shot.
